Summary of article in Billed Bladet #23, 2011.
Vores nye legekammerat - Our new playmate (*)
Written by Marianne Singer.

Countess Alexandra, her Martin and Nikolai and Felix went to Vedbæk School to attend Kids for Kids Open Air. Martin Jørgensen is in the board of that foundation. The surplus of the event went to UNICEF.
Anyway, with them they brought a puppy, a French bulldog named Lily, who has been living with the family for a couple of weeks and which Felix in particular seems to be very fond of.
Alexandra explained: "It's the first time she is with this many people. And she's doing really well.
It was the boy's idea about having a dog. They have plagued for it for a long time. But it's not only their responsibility to have it. We are good at sharing that.
So far we've only been up with it once during the nightm but it has begun to sleep all through the night.
Obviously it affects the entire family to have a dog. It has to be a part of the everyday life of the boys, with all that entails of duties and fun".

Alexandra has previously had a cocker spaniel named Oscar and a dalmatian named Nikita.

(*) No, it's a dog, not a bunny...

last Sunday. They had attended the birthday celebrations of Baroness Rebecca Wedell-Wedellsborg.
According to Billed-Bladet the Crown Prince couple has been invited as well, but cancelled shortly

So the event took place in Morocco, a lovely place to have seen the Cp couple.
Their time looks like a mini vacation which is lovely and a great place to see. Hope we get pictures of the couple at the ceremony. I wonder if it was a theme wedding, beach wedding etc.

This is the story about a feather, which turned into a cleptomanic chicken - and ended up being... nothing.

Let's start with the story: Falsk anklage mod grevinde Alexandra - Kendte - BT.dk

It's a delicious story about an almost-royal who was pinching, stealing, yes! - Almost.
In a style magazine called Eroman a bartender was interviewed and among other things he said that in 1995 he quietly got hold of the then engaged Alexandra, who apparantly had pinched an ashtray from an in-place. And he told her to kindly to leave the ashtrays alone.
That's a good story, even though it took place in 1995. And I happened to read it in BT (now removed) and in Eroman (now retracted).
The Eroman story was odd, because the bartender mentioned the episode en passant. And bartenders at that level are usually very discreet.

The batrender, Paul Muldowney, said: "I have been a bartender for eighteen years and I have experienced quite a few things over the years.
When I was a bartender at Custom House, I for example had to pull the future princess Alexandra aside and ask her to stop pinching our ashtrays".

The tabloids dug into this potentially good story and it turns out that there are a few inconsistensies.
A) This particular story stems from a cocktail guide, with all sorts of tall stories from various bartenders.
B) In 1995 Custom House was still a terminal for fast ferries to and from Sweden.
C) Custom House was only turned into an in-place in 2006.
D) The bartender, Paul Muldowney was employed there from 2006 to 2007.

The editor of Euroman, Mads Lange, whose ears right now are glowing, has issued a statement to Ekstra Bladet: "In connection with a cocktail guide in our August issue we also brought several short interviews with bartenders. Some of these have found their way to our website. They was sensible, exciting musings mixed with tall tales. The quote with bartender Paul Muldowney, about Countess Alexandra at Custom House belongs in the latter category".
Mads Lange acknowledge that the story simply cannot be true and adds: "It was a mistake to print the quote, a mistake which I regret and as such we have removed it from our website".

Ekstra Bladet has asked Mads Lange whether it's normal practice at Eroman to print accusations about punishable criminal activities without hearing what the other part has to say.
Mads Lange has replied: "I have no more to add".

Ekstra Bladet has in vain tried to contact the bartender and Countess Alexandra has no comments.

- This is a prime case for Presselogen (a weekly programme where press ethics is discussed. And quite a few editors have been roasted in that programme). I wonder if Mads Lange has the balls to appear there.

The most nauseating thing about that entire story is Ekstra Bladets "holyer than thou" approach. Especially seen in the light that EB were wallowing in the story the day before - as if it was fact.

Then Euroman is caught red handed, and EB turns on a dime, climbs the high horse and start berating the magazine in the most indignant tone.

The hypocracy knows no bounds. My loathing for that newspaper is infinite.

Countess Alexandra will appear in a radio show lasting two hours tomorrow Saturday.
In that show she will talk about her life so far.
Martin Jørgensen and BB reporter Trine Larsen will also join in with some input.
The radio show will be aired Saturday 15-17 on P4.

These are excerpts from the interview in articles in Billed Bladet #11 and DR1. Alexandra frygtede for sit liv - dr.dk/Nyheder/Indland

At one point Alexandra was in Sri Lanka as patron for UNICEF while there was still a civil war there and she had a serious scare.
She and the Danish ambassador, and her old LiW, Christina Lynge flew onboard a military helicopter.
Christina Lynge: "The ambassador was a bit uneasy with the situation and he was in constant contact with his local sources. (*)
Suddenly heavy shooting is heard (**) and we see fire (***) right in front of our window, Alexandra and I, and we are terrified".

The two women graps each others hands.
Alexandra: "It was one of the few times in my life when I thought: That's the end.
The seconds or minutes that passed were really long. But it's incredible how you enter/approach an emergency like that, I have thought about that since.
I remember that I instinctively looked at the military people, who sat in the helicopter. They looked me straight in the eyes and I could tell that their eyes were not as panicky as ours. That calmed me". (****)

Their helicopter wasn't hit, but the women went around the helicopter to look for themselves: "You have to see with your own eyes, because it was such a violent episode. We needed to see that there weren't any holes in the helicopter, so we instinctively went around the machine when we landed".
Then it was back to business. (*****)

But Alexandra also talks about the funny parts of her life: "The most fun part has difinitely been becoming a mother, to see my children grow up. To see them interact, follow them and listen to all the amusing thoughts and remarks. And then I can be spontaneous in my every day life now. To say: We just do it, no matter what it is. It could perhaps be a little difficult beforehand, but I've always tried to be spontaneous in the opportunities I have had and within what was allowed/allowable. Because I believe spontaniety is a part of life and makes it extra lovely".

The divorce is also touched and Alexandra has not regretted anything: "I have thought a lot about the decisions I have made in life, but I'm happy for them. I regret nothing. None of the great decisions in life has been made, without me thinking them through very carefully. That's why I can say that I'm glad I made these decisions. I stand by them and I always have. You become a stronger person, if you dare make decisions and stand by them. You fill up the suitcase with all the things and experiences life gives you, but it's also important that you from time to time take a look inside the suitcase. The things in there represents your life and you can always learn from what you have been through during your life. When that is said I have never dwelled at or reflected so much about would it would mean/the consequences. Neither in regards to life in the public glare or the fact that I can now sit fairly undisturbed at a cafe with friends. I live very much in the present and I don't think so much about what the future will bring - or dwell at the past. I think I have reached an age, where I have become better at enjoying the day to day and the life here and now".

- I will not listen to that programme. It's Saturday afternoon! Who listen to a radio show Saturday afternoon anyway?
So if anyone else is listening, it would be interesting with a review.

(*) The Sri Lankan military.

(**) Presumably from the escorting helicopter.

(***) Tracer rounds.

(***) The security officers mentioned in the article were probably from FET. FET provided security at the Danish embassy during the worst parts of the civil war. And coming from the military it's natural Alexandra refers to them as military people.
It would also be more natural for a FET agent to calm Alexandra by looking her in the eyes, rather than a Sri Lankan soldier.

(****) Tracer rounds are pretty spooky. As a thumb-rule: If you can follow the tracer rounds without problems with your eyes, they are not shooting at you. If you have problems following the tracers, the fire is aimed in your general direction.
But often, if not most of the time, you are never even aware that someone is shooting at you.

We have more on the Alexandra-being-shot-at-story. Alexandra var tæt på døden - Royale - BT.dk

In fact Alexandra's helicopter wasn't being shot at.

What happened was that the pilot had detected that the helicopter had been illuminated by a radar and to deflect any threat from incoming heat seeking missiles flares were released from the helicopter.
It wasn't shots Alexandra heard but the charges releasing the flares.

- That's a completely different story than the impression you will get from the DR1 article.

It was of course a novel and very scary experience for Alexandra and she and her former LiW did go around the helicopter afterwards to look for bullet holes.

- When that is said, flying in a helicopter in a war zone is risky. Apart from the danger from missiles or chrashing in enemy held territory, it is extremely common that someone takes a potshot at a helicopter flying past. Most of the time the bullets can't reach the altitude of the helicoper, let alone come anywhere near the aircraft even if they can. But once in a while...
It's the same thing with driving in a convoy or being inside an observation post. One day you suddenly spot a hole in the fuselage or in a sandbag, you haven't seen before.

And we have more about the interview with Alexandra in Søndag.

(..)

Alexandra: Martin er min soulmate - kvinder.bt.dk | www.bt.dk

With a large picture of Alexandra and an unshaved Martin Jørgensen. http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files...ndramartin.jpg

And this is indeed about the fourteen years younger Martin.

About whom Alexandra says: "To me Martin has meant that two halves equals more than one whole. He backs up everything I stand for and (he) has recieved the children with open arms, just as they have recieved him, which is a huge cadeau to the person he is. He's my lovely husband, my soulmate and my best critique".

The difference in age doesn't matter: "I don't think love has a a set format/frame or a certain age-difference, that is the only thing that is right. Love has many faces and many shapes. And yes, Martin is younger than me and that is after all the love we have found ourselves in, and which works well for us. Actually we don't notice (the difference in age) it at all ourselves. I know he is more than happy for what we have. It also helps me to get that inner calm I have, by knowing that he is there for me, no matter what".

More on the interview in Søndag: Alexandra: Prins Nikolai har arvet sin morfars sind - kvinder.bt.dk | www.bt.dk

This time about Nikolai, about whom Alexandra says: "My oldest sun has inherited my father's truly happy mindset/character. He's always happy and never bears a grudge. That's a huge gift, that has been passed on from my father to him".

She also comments on raising Felix and Nikolai: "The trick about being a good parent is to slowly let go. Let go, let go. Release them into the world as those confident, lovely citizens of the world, every child should be allowed to be when they grow up.
My parents really mastered giving my sisters and me freedom with responsibility - without having read books about. It just came as something natural for them.
Today I think it's great to be able to take those things I respected from my own upbringing and pass them on to my own children. And it's important to tell children: What do you think? That I experienced that Queen Ingrid did. She was so good at listening and simply say: What do you yourself think? It's fanastic quality to be supportive in that way".

- Venerable mods. There appears to be a problem with the links. When I clicked on Alexandra's patronages I ended up here after a couple of seconds. And I don't seem to be able to get here the direct way.
