Not a ferry but Christian does have the Scandinavian Airlines System Airbus A320 named Christian Valdemar Viking in his honour.

"In 2006 Scandinavian Airlines System was in the process of purchasing new A319 aircraft; and in Christian's honour the first of these, delivered on 8 August 2006, was named Christian Valdemar Viking"

On 8 April 2005, CP Mary named the freight ship Mary Arctica. An Icebreaker which will spend its days travelling from Greenland to Denmark etc.

I remember sailing with Pss Anne-Marie, Pss Benedikte and Pss Elisabeth when they were on service between Århus and Kalundborg.
Later they went to sail between Helsingør - Helsingborg.
And then in 1999 I went ot Argentina with ny choir and we took the ferry to Uruguay and guess what: The ferry was "Pss Benedikte" with all intact. From the coloring indoord and outdoors to the "Exit Helsingør" above the door for walking passengers :)

No, but it's certainly very common. I think you can say that during the lifetime of a member of the DRF at some point a ferry will be named after that person.
But we still lack a M/F Kronprinsesse Mary and M/F Prinsesse Marie.
If I am to make a prediction I don't think we should expect Joachim's children to have ferries named after them, perhaps with the exception of Athena (plus that's a good name for a ferry).
I've sailed with the Aarhus-Samsø-Kalundborg ferries quite a number of times too, when I was a child.
It's funny, FasterB, you should end up on one in Argentina of all places.

Thanks Polyesco,
Aww, it's the very first time we see Isabella listed as responsible for her own official event in the official calendar.
Our little Bella isn't so little anymore

And Isabella and Mary have 2 other events after the baptizing:
" H.K.H. Prinsesse Isabella døber Samsøs nye færge i Sælvig Havn, hvorefter D.K.H. Kronprinsessen og Prinsesse Isabella aflægger besøg hos Samsø Bær og Samsø Naturskole, kl. 13.45"

Over on the frederiketmary blog, they refer to Isabella as a ''ferry godmother.''

 Good one.
It'll be great to see Mary and Bella.
I wonder if it's something that has been added on request of the Samsø municipality. Because there have been some critical voices objecting to renaming the ferry. Because it was done without a public debate and without the local council airing the idea to the locals first.
Not that they've got anything at all against Mary or Bella, they are just miffed they weren't heard. One of the arguments being that the ferry still being called Samsø would increase the awareness of the island. - The problem is of course that you don't get on the ferry in the first place if your intention is not to get to the island.
And if I intend to go somewhere I don't really care what the name of the plane/ferry/train/whatever is. - But it's all very typical small-community. Living in one myself I know, believe me!
Anyway, with Mary and Isabella visiting two local businesses on top of renaming the ferry, everybody ought to be pleased and the island will be crawling with press. - And the weather should be better next weekend.
But the island is beautiful and I often went there as a child.

I don´t think we´ll see ferries named after CPss Mary and Pss Marie, since - after all - ferries are not so common in this little land anymore
It was so funny to end up on "Pss Benedikte" in Argentina

I hope they have at least one more ferry to be named/renamed in a few years so that Josephine can also have one named for her like big sister.

Yep, good practice.
Lots of attention, but a reasonable simple job. "I baptize you XX" then smashing a bottle, that's usually fun for a child. And having a ship named after you that must also be a quite a big thing for a child.

Bella on the cover of BB out tomorrow in connection with the ferry baptism the coming weekend:
https://scontent-ams2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...cf&oe=55FC6ED7
Cover tell some more information: That Bella will baptize the ferry with blackcurrant juice, Bella and Mary will go on a fishing trip and they will also go to pick strawberries.
Let's cross fingers for the good summer weather they have promised come true.

Aha, so no champagne bottle at the christening, but cranberry juice instead. Sounds appropriate for a child her age.
The weather Saturday should be great 25 degrees C (77 F). The first summerday of the year, after an unusually cold and wet May.
