Prince Antonio, Princess Christine and Family

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Thank you for reminding us Cris. What a tragic accident it was indeed. I can't believe it is already six years ago.

Yes thank you Cris M what the tragedy.

The photos are so precious and yet so painful sometimes.

Princess Christine has aged so well.

She did indeed, as did her sister-in-law the princess de Ligne, Princess Margriet and Britain's Benjamin Button, the countess of Wessex.

Thanks for sharing that photo. The loss of a child is something very difficult to cope with. My grandparents had to go through the same ordeal and never recovered fully. There is a life 'before' and a life 'after'.

Indeed!

When I look at the Princess of Ligne's wedding picture, when she was 28, and this recent picture of her, aged 62, the most noticeable difference is the change in hair colour!

The Family was really comforted by their strong Catholic faith. But I remember Princess Christine was truly devasted. Sadly, they'll never fully recover, not really.

Even now, six years later, to see their pain in pictures is heartbreaking.

Princess Maria Gabriela is now living and working in Belgium, which is quite good for her marriage prospects.

Her Royal Highness has a degree in Advertising and works as a publicist.

And today she turns 26!

On Saturday, Prince Antonio and Princess Christine made a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lapa, in Quintela de Sernancelhe, Portugal. They were accompanied by their daughters, Princesses Amélia and Maria Gabriela, and son-in-law, James Spearman (Princess Amélia's husband).

Prince Antonio prayed for his older brother, Prince Luiz, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil, who celebrated his 77th birthday on that day and is facing health problems.

The Imperial House of Brazil published some nice pictures.

Prince Rafael has just sent a video message to monarchists, apologizing for not being able to be present at the Monarchist Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, early this month.

https://www.facebook.com/promonarquia/videos/1649152705321313/

His Royal Highness said:

Dear monarchists,

Unfortunately, I could not attend last Monarchist Meeting. But couldn't not convey a message of support and encouragement to everyone who attended.

I want you to know that I was there in my thoughts, during the course of the entire event.

You can keep counting with me, as I'm sure I can count with you all, in this ideal that, increasingly, is proving to be the only solution for the restoration of the greatness of Brazil.

May God bless all of us, Brazilians.

Princess Christine will celebrate her 60th birthday tomorrow. The entire family will be reunited at the Chateau de Beloeil for the celebration.

The Princess was in Europe since June, traveling first to Portugal and than to Spain, where she stayed with her elder daughter and son-in-law, Princess Amélia and James Spearman, at their home in Madrid.

Prince Antonio was with her in Portugal, but he came back to Brazil in July. Now, he and Prince Rafael have travelled to Belgium.

The younger daughter, Princess Maria Gabriela, lives and works in Brussels.

Princess Christine will come back to Brazil at the end of the month, after the 86th birthday of her mother, the Dowager Princess of Ligne.

As today is Princess Christine's 60th birthday, the official Facebook page of her son, Prince Rafael, realesed this picture of her with the following text:

Princess Amélia and James Spearman are expecting their first child in September. The informartion comes from Causa Imperial on Facebook.

Prince Don Rafael of Brazil granted an interview to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, FAZ.NET-. Your Highness spoke about their education, professional career, his duties as Prince of Brazil and future head of the Imperial House, of its intention to give continuity to the traditions of the Imperial family and to make a dynastic marriage, in addition to the prospects of restoring the monarchy in Brazil.

Kaiserfamilie in Brasilien: „Wir gehen mit dem Volk auf die Straße“ - Stil - FAZ

After the excellent interview conducted by German newspaper "Frankfutter Allgemaine" was the French magazine "Point de Vue", specialized in nobility, who interviewed S.a.r.l Prince Dom Rafael of Brazil, they talked about his childhood, education, career, personal life, about the Olympic Games, his future as head of the Imperial House of Brazil and their perspectives regarding the restoration of the monarchy in this country.

Yes, I've read both interviews, and I must say I was positively surprised, especially with the German one.

The young Prince sounds very mature. It seems he has finally came to terms with his position as future Head of the Imperial House. And it's understandable why it took him so many years, after the sudden and tragic death of his older brother. And I know his father and both his uncles had some serious talks with him about his role and position.

Also, the relationship with Miss Talita Vaccaro is confirmed to be over. And some of his relatives have told people that he plans to spend some time in Europe (one of his sisters lives in Madrid, the other in Brussels). Putting this together with the fact he said in the interview that he wants to marry accordingly to his House rules, so I'm now confidant regarding the continuation of the Imperial Family.

At these times of political, economic and social turmoil, who knows what can happen.

Alexander James Spearman (b. March 27 1984) [second child and firtborn son of Lochain Alexander Spearman (b. 1952) & his wife, Pilar, nee Garrigues y Carnicer] & his wife, Amélia, nee Princess of Orleans-Braganza, born Princess of Brazil (b. March 15 1984) [second child and firstborn daughter of Prince Antonio of Brazil (b. 1950) and his wife, Christine, nee Princess de Ligne (b. 1955) had their first child, a son, Alexander Joaquim Pedro Spearman, born on August 30 2016, in Madrid, Spain.

Alexander Joaquim is the first grandchild of his maternal grandparents. One of his uncles, Prince Pedro Luiz of Brazil (1983-2009), died on the Flight 447 plane crash. His other uncle and aunt, Prince Rafael of Brazil (b. 1986) and Princess Maria Gabriela of Brazil (b. 1989) are still single.

He is the second grandson of his paternal gradparents. His aunt, Isabel (b. 1979), and her husband, Mark Crocker (b. 1971), are the parents of a son, Frank Crocker (b. 2014). His uncle, Jack Spearman (b. 1986) is still single.

Congratulations to both the families!. What would the title of Alexander Joaquin Spearman be ?

No title - a plain Mr. Alexander Spearman.
He doesn't get any title from his maternal family, nor the chance to become a Brazilian dynast since his mother renounced to her succession rights at the time of her marriage.
Alexander just has the (remote) to get a title if he succeeded to the Spearman baronetcy.

Prince Rafael of Brazil at a reception organized by the Monarchist Circle of Rio de Janeiro
https://blogrealmonarquias.blogs.sapo.pt/principe-rafael-do-brasil-numa-recepcao-6918822

Any news on a royal future bride for prince Rafael? As that is expected of him to continue the royal lineage (I wonder whether a noble bride would be considered an acceptable alternative if he cannot find a princess).

In this interview 4 years ago he said he intended to keep up that tradition to be able to fulfil his role.
New interview with Prince Rafael, this time in English. He sounds very mature and ready to serve Brazil if called to do it.

Meet the man who was born to be emperor of Brazil
The title is a bit misleading as it was his brother "who was born to be emperor of Brazil" not Rafael as the second son; however, because his older brother's airplane crashed he was put in this position.

Some potential brides for Rafael (1986) that seem to meet the criteria

- Princesses Maria Laura (1985) or Luisa Maria (1995) of Belgium (royal parents)
- Princesses Marie-Astrid (1987) or Marie-Anunciata (1985) of Liechtenstein (royal parents)
