He should have never accepted the gift in the first place.

it was part of a longstanding 'business agreement', the yacht was used to attract attention to Mallorca because the royals would vacation there and the businessmen thought that a yacht was befitting for a king.

The King gets a salary to the Queen and Letizia
Zarzuela has announced the budget of the Royal Household of HM the King in 2014, which is a decrease of 2 percent compared to last year. This year, as new, Queen Sofia and Letizia have a salary. The King and Prince remain virtually unchanged in 2013, Elena receive a quantity and representation expenses and Cristina, no trace.

F&L receiving 250K Euro per year hopefully put the rumour to rest that Letizia cannot affort approriate dressing and grooming, espcially considering that they have free housing and household staff.

Its good that Elena finally got capped since she has an additional job at Mapfre where she probably makes more than Sofia & Letizia together per annum :p

Letizia: 8.530 monthly equals approximately $11.500 American. Big deal. That wouldn't even purchase one upscale evening gown at Sakes or Bloomingdales. No wonder she is forced to rewear the same thing. From what I have read, Cristina has spend 5 times that amount on one of her many gowns to attend a Royal wedding. And lets face it, if all the scandal is correct, Cristina was using taxpayer money also.

In that web thay have an obsession .
These data are pure speculation, they have been several weeks obsessed with what it costs each piece princess Letizia wears.

What is the theory, does the state have to pay for everything she wears when doing events or only for state events?

Same goes for Felipe's custom made suits I guess, they are certainly not cheap but always forgotten :D

Duke official acts are official acts, and in all she represents the Royal Family ... there is no difference between an act of State, a normal official act or an audience. Everything is on the agenda is official.

No, no one has calculated the cost of the clothes of the King or the Prince. Queen Sofia and infanta Elena can wear a foreign designer clothes as Oscar de la Renta, and spent thousands of euros on it in a day .... neither the press says. Not to mention the Valentinos and Lacroix, Chanel or Loewe handbags...

Transparency is good but not in this way. Its ridiulous to discuss what piece of clothing cost what, was is necessary to wear this or that, what's next, discuss the cost of underwear.

They should get an allowance for everything and that's it and spend it as they like. All that should be discussed is the height of that allowance, nothing else.

I dont want to know either the cost of the operations of the king, what a joke.

But just in case the figures Lady Finn posted are correct, I have to say that Letizia has a talent to buy clothes that look cheap and ugly for a far too high price. I guess Varela is very good at milking his best customer.

Lady Finn post is from Vanitatis... with that one should know that is unreliable :whistling:

Varela has a workshop store in Madrid, he has a basic line of clothing, but after for the Princess makes unique clothing. And that no one has a dress like yours, has a price (also avoids embarrassing moments). Obviously she is a good customer, so prices are not the same.

Included in that list things like Bulgari earrings of Asturias awards (several thousand euros)... that probably have been a gift.
