The Royal Family of Spain, Current Events, Part 24 (Sept. 2017 - present)

Is there something in the protocol about making gratuitous insults to the Queen when she's not even there?

Letizia's disdain for protocol is well documented, mentioning it is not a gratuitous insult, but rather a fact. And I do expect her daughters to do much better.

Sofía is reported to be a good player, it's a nice outing for father and daughter, especially because she'll be going to Wales soon.

The lack of protocol gets on my nerves though, why is Sofía walking in front of the King? Her mother's daughter for sure.

I have seen the family in official events when they are shaking hands with the public and they are lined up according to the order of precedence established by royal decree, that is, Felipe, Letizia, Leonor, Infanta Sofía, and then Queen Sofía, when she is also present (which is increasingly rarer today).

When they are walking and in unofficial events (like today), I believe the protocol is relaxed.

Does the Infanta play with a club or on her school's team?

She plays as midfielder in a club, name of said club has been kept secret.

I think a certain sector of Spanish press liked to write exaggerated stories on her. It's normal she likes some parts of protocol , doesn't like others, but I don't see her making any big change like her MIL (and FIL) who pushed two sisters (SILs) aside not to be members of the RF (I'm sure Letizia likes this decision ), got rid of wearing hats at big events because she didn't like hats or stopped wearing tiara at the state dinner to a Republic country and etc.

King Juan Carlos landed this Thursday in Cowes to compete in the World Sailing Championship in the six meter class with his team. So did his daughter, Infanta Elena.

He have answered the big question for the 'YAS verano' program: do you plan to settle in Spain again? with a "Yes, sure."
