They left Istanbul on Sunday, the attacks were on Monday.
Istanbul was just a stopover to somewhere else, probably they preferred to spend the night in a hotel near the airport, to spend hours waiting at the airport for a connecting flight.

Already it confirmed last Saturday at 23: 30h Letizia and girls arrived to Istanbul.
There's a paparazzi agency 24h stands guard at the airport, and called them much attention to the absence of minutes for a new aircraft aterrizata a Spanish flag reaching up at the airport (as mandated by the protocol). They could then take the picture that I show, and although they are not seen them, I assure you that are. From there they marched escorted by a police car to a nearby hotel, where they spent Saturday night, and where they stayed until Sunday afternoon, when they took, from the same place, a plane to Taranto (Italy).
Apparently, to reach Taranto you can travel in low cost (not the most suitable for them), or other companies with a stopover in Rome, Milan (both full of tourists) or Istanbul. In addition, when arriving at night, avoid be photographed and make a long wait at the airport.

Duke, I think you have not read or understood the full information of another forum..
According to ABC, they left Istanbul on Sunday at 18:30. The flight traveling from Istanbul to southern Italy is at 13:30. So or ABC has incorrect data or information about their presence in Italy is false.

It's interesting how opinions differ, in a good way of course
To me, Leonor is looking more and more like Letizia, she also has mommy slim figure. Sofia has more Bourbon genes and she'll be the tallest of the two.

Maybe we'll see pictures at some point. In 2011 the paps caught them in the Cyclades and the pictures only surfaced some time later.

Really! Thanks Lula for clearing it all up. I guess in summer the press invent stories to sell since everything is slightly quieter.

They started and finished their holidays in mallorca. Nice 
I agree about Juan Carlos. He could spend some days in mallorca as the Sofia to his grandchildren.

The summer Holidays seem to have been a bit longer than previous ones,I don't think anyone would begrudge the King and Queen an extra week or two!
Pity that King Juan Carlos was no where to be seen this summer with his family except at a bullfight.
