If the girls had a problem with her tactile ways I am pretty sure they would let her know. I have no proof but a gut feeling they feel free to express themselves to their parents and speak their minds within reason.

OK, I know I'm crazy, but which is Leonor and which is Sofia? I'm not terribly familiar with them, but could usually tell. Now, their height isn't helping me! Who is in the print top and longer khaki shorts?

Spanish Royal Family Summer Holidays 2015
Leonor is in khaki shorts, and printed top, while Sofia is in solid white top, and navy shorts. I have a hard time telling them apart too, since they're practically the same height.

In my option that is a step too far. Both the royal family and the media are helped with some distance. The Diana Years were a lesson of how a close entanglement can lead to a deadly embrace.
The media are there to register the start of the holidays of the Spanish royal family. The King, the Queen and the Infantas shaking the hands of the folks who -at other media moments- will not hesistate to infringe their pivacy, is a step too far.

The oldest one is Doña Leonor, Princess of Asturias. That is the one with the khaki coloured pants.
Picture.

It is great to see the royal family shaking hands with the reporters and photographers. Felipe and Letizia are modern royals, who know that the world has changed and are acting according to that. They treated the photographers like respected professionals, as guests at the Marivent Palace area. You can see that some photographers looked a little surprised, but of course were pleased. The royals made a warm event about the photoshoot, it wasn't just "you are there taking photos" and "we are here, don't come close to us".
Leonor and Sofia are always so well behaved and quite at ease with the press. While listening to all cameras clicking such young girls must feel a little uncomfortable. But they were smiling, being polite and well-mannered. Felipe and Letizia have done a very good job. They are also very natural with their children, and Felipe looks his family like he has difficulties to believe how lucky he is to have them. Lovely to see the girls waving to the press while going inside.

I am not surprised. The SRF have alwayss been courting the 'right' press (I am not talking about the tabloids) to make sure to get them as allies more than other royal houses, imo.
If you look at their agenda, half the awards they give out is media-related (journalists, outlets etc) and they do lots of events in that respect.

I like their attitude towards the press, its very welcoming and respectful as they are professionals as well. It must be a nice way to welcome them into the palace grounds like any other person.
The pictures are lovely and they looked very happy. Each time I see the girls, they have changed and grown. They are growing up fast and it's always nice seeing them. They look like a very warm family.
I hope to see more of them in Mallorca.

Just look at their eyes and you will be able to tell them apart. Leonor has blue eyes while Sofia has brown eyes.
I've been following them since their birth and I can easily tell them apart. Their features are quite diferent, because to me they don't look alike at all, but I understand that their same height and same hair color confuses lots of people.

Every royal family does it their own way. I am not sure how big, or organized or "friendly" the media at the Spanish photo-session was. At the Dutch session you see the King and his family arriving. All friendly smiles, waves here and there, faces of recognition. The King usually says some light-hearted words like: "Ah... I see, judging from your numbers, there is still a great interest in our family! Now, tell us, what would you like? The sea first?" and so taking the initiative. Look at this: I try to imagine the Dutchies giving all them a handshake too... hmm... no... I think they deliberately want to keep distance.
Maybe the difference is that all accredited media which respects the media code are allowed in the Netherlands while in Spain it is more the "monarchy-friendly press" which are allowed to make pictures?

Wonderful photos of the family. Sofia has changed a lot and she is getting so tall! She and Leonor could be mistaken non-identical twins as I think Sofia is starting to look quite a lot like her older sister now as well, I noticed that her hair had gotten darker.
I also think it's nice how the whole family came out to greet the press, however I think making children do such a thing is a bit much but it will be good practice for when they're older, especially for Leonor. And I also agree that the girls seem confident around the press, so perhaps it's less "daunting" (not sure if that's the right word) for them. I remember Leonor was confidently answering the press's questions at her communion.

And with a mother who is a former journalist the gesture shows respect to those in the profession IMO.
