I believe that the photography is of the baptism of the Infanta Elena, because Dona Maria was her godmother.;)

The baptism of HM King Don Juan Carlos was a family celebration, in the Roman chapel of the Horsemen of the Order of Malta (Real Cruze di Malta), on January 26th, 1938. It was a brief and simple ceremony celebrated by Cardinal Pacelli who would be chosen as Pope Pius XII, on the following year.

Queen Victoria Eugenia (his paternal grandmother, who would play the same role, thirty years later, at the baptism of Prince Felipe) was chosen as the godmother, while Infante Don Carlos de Borbón-Dos Sicilias (his maternal grandfather) was chosen to be the godfather.

In addition to the family, the ceremony was attended by Queen Elena of Italy, Infant Don Jaime (who played the role of godfather, in representation of Don Carlos) and Infantas Doña Beatriz and Doña Cristina. The baptism ceremony was followed by a celebration at the Gran Hotel that would last until 2 o’clock in the afternoon; everything surrounded by a haul of privacy that involuntarily fought with the importance of the guests.

Thank you very much, mtbcm! This is great stuff indeed! ;)

Does anybody has the picture of Prince Felipe's christening in which Elena or Cristina (I'm not sure) are playing with Franco's medals in his uniform? I heard that the picture was very famous at the time, but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks in advance

It was Cristina. Here is the photo.

godparents

who are the godparents of infanta margarita and infanta pilar?

the infanta margarita's godfather is her paternal uncle don Jaime of Segovia

For me it seems that the Spanish Royal Family is a very very good friend of the Bulgarian Royal Family. Three grandchildren of King Juan Carlos are godchildren of Bulgarian Princes and Princesses. Pablo Nicolas for example is godchild of Prince Kubrat, Princess Sofia will be godchild of Prince Konstantin-Assen and Irene is godchild of Princess Rosario, the wife of Prince Kyrill.
Does anyone know if any grandchildren of Tsar Simeon are godchildren of members of the Spanish royal family?
