Sadly she won't wear a tiara...the Spanish royal ladies haven't worn tiaras in state visits to republics in the last 30 years or so... Sofía didn't (in fact she didn't wear a tiara at some White tie Royal events) and Letizia didn't in her state visit to Portugal (White tie)

Sadly you are right, One of a few exceptions was a state visit to Austria in 1995, Sofia wore the Prussian Tiara.. It would be a miracle to see Letizia with a Tiara in a republic.

Yes a tradition I wish Letizia as queen would reverse.

Not white tie but black tie. Not even for Queen Elizabeth II. it was upgraded. The last white tie State Banquet is quiet some time ago and it was probably changed by Johannes Rau as President because during Roman Herzog's time in office there was still a white tie State Dinner for King Albert II. and Queen Paola.

What is the reason Queen Sofia never wore a tiara in a Republicv and why had Queen Letizia to follow her example.
She also doesn't in other events for example when presenting a flag she doesn't wear a long black gown and mantilla anymore.

I imagine that they don't wear tiaras in every White tie events due to a personal preference, there's never been an official statement.
Similarly I imagine that it's Queen Letizia's personal preference not to wear a long black dress and a mantilla with peineta when delivering the flag. I imagine (but that's my personal opinion of course) that she feels like she's playing dress up in a mantilla and peineta. That dresscode was set up by Queen Sofía, in my mind, because it looked "typical Spanish" to her (It was very much a Francoist women of the regime look). Queen Ena delivered the flag in regular daytime clothes for example, so It wasn't a tradition that had to be mantained.

Yes sorry black tie. The First Ladies usually wear long dresses.
QEII or Maxima wore a tiara, but my guess would be as well that Letizia won't.

According to several media reports, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will pay a state visit to Germany on October 17th & 18th. The will visit Berlin and Frankfurt. Its great they will visit Germany but its a shame its such a short state visit-again (like the Sweden visit)

It makes sense that they come to Frankfurt, it is the home of the biggest bookfair in the world and this year Spain is the Guest of Honor Country. Therefore they made it a State Visit with the minimum day in Berlin.

Any information about a state visit to Spain this year? I think there is an official visit from Paraguay later this year but NO State Visit. I guess it will be a year without Tiara for Letizia. Any rumors for next year?

They made a State Visit to Germany from October 17 to October 19. There should be a separate thread for it.
