King sends telegram of condolence to the family of Rocío Jurado

The King, in name of the whole Royal Family, sent today a telegram of condolence to the family of Rocio Jurado after knowing the death of the singer, as reported a speaker of the House of the King.

In addition, Don Juan Carlos spoke telephonically with the husband of the tonadillera, Jose Ortega Cano, to express his sorrow to him for the disappearance of the artist, and expressed to him the great loss that she has supposed for the popular culture.

Rocio Jurado expired 05:15 hours to 61 years in her domicile of Madrid as consequence of the cancer of pancreas that she was suffering for two years.

The Kings will inaugurate the exhibition on Monday

Next Monday there will be inaugurated officially the exhibition " Tradition and forefront " by the visit to the galaería cental of the Prado Museum of the Kings of Spain. From Tuesday, the public will be able to accede to this tour that begins in this art gallery and concludes in the Museum Queen Sofia. In whole it will be more than one hundred of works, proceeding from the principal museums and collections deprived of the whole world that preserve Picasso's works. There is a joint entry to see the exhibition and the permanent collections of the museums.

The Kings of Spain will attend the duel with Saudi Arabia

The Kings of Spain, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía, have accepted the invitation of the Government of the federal state of Renania-Palatinado to attend next the 23 of June in Kaiserlautern to the party of World-wide of Germany the 2006 who will dispute the Spanish selection and the one of Saudi Arabia.
Thus today announced the chancellery of this land, where it makes sure that the head of the Spanish Real House communicated to them today that the Kings of Spain have accepted the invitation that to them of Renania-Palatinado sent prime minister, the Social Democrat Kurt Beck, to attend the party.
“Their Majestys accept their amiable invitation with pleasure”, assures the letter the Real House directed to Beck, needs the official notice.

fanletizia, is this translated literally? I've never seen it written this way before and I'm actually impressed if there is no distinction between King and Queen in formal language (as opposed to Reina). Please let me know and thanks

In Portuguese/Spanish when referring to plural, we always use the plural of the masculine word (of course this doesn't apply if we're talking about women only). So in the case above it was "Los Reyes" and literally translated as "The Kings".

It was a dinner of gala in the Royal Palace, I believe that it is impossible that she was putting to sing there. It was a dinner of state, very established by protocol and formal, not a concert.

Rocio Jurado was invited with her husband to the dinner by the Embassy of Colombia. Her husband Ortega Cano is a famous bullfighter there, both have a house in Cartagena de Indias , and the boy and the girl that they adopted were Colombian.

What is next for the King and Queen when they come back from Norway? Are they heading to Mallorca for a much-needed break?

The Casa Real website doesn't show any activities for them in the upcoming days.

King grants Toisón of Gold to Bhumibol of Thailand

The King has granted the Toisón of Gold, the most prestigious dynastic order of the world, to the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, who these days celebrates sixty anniversary of his enthronement, which turns him into the most veteran monarch of the planet.

The Ministers' Council, assembled today in the Palace of The Moncloa, approved the royal decree for which don Juan Carlos grants this important decoration to the King of Thailand.

Dona Sofía will travel on Sunday to Bangkok to be present at the commemorative acts of this efeméride, which have confirmed their presence representatives of all the Royal Houses of the world.

Last February, the Kings realized a visit of State to the Kingdom of Thailand, moment of that they took advantage to transmit personally his congratulation to the King Bhumibol in his six decades in the throne.

Official Visit from Argentina, 21-22 June

Kirchner will be received the next week in Madrid by King Juan Carlos and Zapatero and will be with Spanish industralists

The president of Argentina, Néstor Kirchner, will arrive the next Tuesday to Madrid to begin on the following day an official visit in which Carlos will be received by King Juan, will maintain an encounter of work with the head of the Executive, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, and he will be entrevistará with industralists with interests in Argentina.
Tuesday president Kirchner will have the free day and will begin the official visit Wednesday with an encounter in the Palace of the Zarzuela with King Juan Carlos, later to attend an official lunch in the Real Palace, accompanied by the rest of the retinue that accompanies in its visit Spain to him.

Madrid, 18 jun (EFE) .-The Kings will preside tomorrow, on June 19, for the first time, the delivery of offices to the new promotions of the Police in the Academy of Baeza (Jaen). Don Juan Carlos and Dona Sofía will be got by honors for the general manager of the Police, Joan Mesquida, and Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba is foreseen the presence of the ministers of Defense, Jose Antonio Alonso, and Interior.

402 members of 27 will receive their diplomas promotion of subofficials and 237 new constabularies of the promotion 111 C, since of A and B accreditations obtained them last April and May.

The Kings of Spain presided over this morning the delivery from 402 offices to the new sergeant majors and the appointments to the Civil Guards in Guard and the Non-commissioned officer school of Baeza (Jaén). To the act, they accompanied to the kings Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía, who visited for the first time these facilities, the ministers of of Interior today, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, and by Defense, Jose Antonio Alonso, in addition to the president of the Meeting, Manuel Chaves, among other personalities. In particular, the 402 new sergeant majors received their office who integrate XXVII the promotion and the 237 new Civil Guards of 111-C promotion, agents who next will get up themselves to their new destinies.
