80th Birthday of HRH The Infanta Margarita, Duchess of Soria and Hernani
The 80th Birthday of HRH The Infanta Margarita of Spain, Duchess of Soria and Hernani.
HRH The Infanta Margarita of Spain turns 80 years of age on March 6th ,not sure if we will see her older sister HRH The Infanta Pilar given her recent bout of ill health.

It's not an interview, just an article on the magazine's website... more gossip than reliable information.
I really do not understand the need for a thread for this birthday , there are no celebrations beyond the private celebration that her children organize at home... something totally private.

Turning 80 is a milestone for anyone and we often have threads for such other royals if anyone is not interested in her birthday they can move rightly along. If there's not much interest in her birthday it will be merged with her current events one but that will be decided not dictated.

Many thanks for all the links, An Ard Ri. It is indeed a milestone birthday for Infanta Margarita and interesting to read some anecdotes about her, since she is not well know here in the UK.
I've been following the Infanta for about 20 years now, as I used to buy Hola! Magazine from the newsagents in Norwich and sit and try and read through the various articles - it was always nice to see an article about Margarita.
I have always been struck by the fact that her family unit has always been close to her and seem to celebrate birthdays together a lot of the time - so it was a treat to see the 80th birthday photos.

Turning 80 is certainly a special event in anyone’s life! I hope she enjoys whatever celebrations are planned.
I like seeing news about Juan Carlos’ sisters. They both seem like interesting women, although very different from each other.

Pity Infanta Pilar wasn't well enough to attend, the article mentioned that the dowager Duchess of Calabria was there too.

With regard to Juan Carlos and his children, I wouldn’t have expected Cristina to make the trip from Geneva but does anyone know why no Felipe and, especially, no Juan Carlos? Pilar’s absence is understandable but it does seem a little sad that Margarita celebrated such a big milestone birthday without the presence of either of her siblings.

Strange that king Juan Carlos was not there I had hoped that King Felipe would attend but did not expect to see Letizia.

Every time I see Don Juan Carlos, I sadly notice his increasing frailty and decreasing mobility. The King probably felt unwell to attend his sister's birthday.

Similarly, it would have been nice for Felipe to take an hour out of his evening and attend the party.

Very often JC did not bother to attend Easter Mass with his immediate family, no surprise here. Felipe didn't make time for his aunt, neither did Letizia, no surprise here either.
As usual, the specialists for the family events, Sofia and Elena, showed up and smiled for the cameras.
