They seem to be carnations ("Nelke" in german), and apparently they were Johannes von Thurn und Taxis' favorite flower which he frequently wore on his jacket (see this article where it's mentioned)
Johannes obviously being the father of the bride who died in 1990 so it might be a little reminder of him
I do like that the wedding couple did their entire wedding the way they liked it themselves, from entourage to guestlist (i think they just invited people they knew and liked and not people "because they should be invited"), and for you traditionalists out there, it's sweet that her brother lead her into the church..

I don't know, but judging by the photos, it doesn't look very old as far as churches go (to me it looks Victorian or Edwardian).

Thank you both for the information. I haven't heard that Princesses Gloria and Caroline are friends (but then again, I don't know a lot about the friendships of the Monegasque Princely Family or the Thurn und Taxis family), but I read on Noblesse & Royautes that Andrea Casriaghi and Tatiana move in the same social circles in London.

Thanks for the information!
It is understandable that Princess Gloria included a memento related to the late Furst Johannes into the ceremony. Mr Wilson and Furst Albert had carnations on their lapels. It would be fair to assume that Mr Wilson's best man and ushers wore carnations as well.

RTL just showed a short video about the wedding and the dress is indeed by Vivienne Westwood. Call me crazy but the more I look at it the more I like it. The cut is beautiful and it fits perfectly. The pattern with roses, well why not if the bride likes it. Overall the whole wedding appeared to be a very happy and joyous celebration for the whole family and the guests.

I think I like the dress, it is delicate, romantic but not girlish, and with a very nice fabric and cut.

Did the bride forget to have her hair/roots done??
The haircolour/roots/dark eyebrows/red lipstick look clownish.
The rest was to be expected, I am german so Gloria's antics/traditional stuff/egocentric people invited is no surprise for me.

Has anyone seen a picture of Maria's wedding ring? In all the pictures of her taken at P1(where she might be wearing her civil ceremony ring) her hand is covered by a bag.
Obviously her hand was bare before entering the church in Tutzig but after leaving the church the flowers or hugo's hand hides her hand. Im curious to see what colour the gold is and if its a plain or unique design.
Hugo doesnt seem to have a wedding ring.
It is possible they dont believe in rings because ive never seen her engagement ring either.

I agree about the roots. Those were just terrible. All in all, the dress was unique and was in keeping with the bride. I will say the church was decorated beautifully and the flowers of the bride were lovely.

Princess Gloria wore the dirndl. Ladies in Bavaria are said to wear the traditional dress very often. While looking like a peasant dress, I assume that Princess Gloria's dirndl is bespoke and is made of costly hand-printed or silk fabric.

I could let the print on the dress pass, as the colors are very pretty, but, she's done nothing with her hair and makeup to coordinate with the colors of the gown. Princess Elisabeth looks like she is wearing long surgical gloves... ugh
This has to go down as the most ugly royal wedding I've ever seen.
Hopefully everything turned out the way the bride and groom wanted it and that they will have a long happy life together.

Gosh, that was harsh and really mean. But that's your opinion and you're entitled to that. However, I think the bride is beautiful and she looks lovely and happy and that's all that should matter on your wedding day. I also love the dress and, if she is anything like her mother, it totally fits her personality. She is definitely not a girl who would wear lace on her wedding day. I applaud her for following her own heart when it comes to how she wanted to look and not how people she doesn't know or care about think she should look.

Like Al bina said a drindl is not peasant dress at all. The simplest drindl can cost 200 euros and the most expensive (by fashion designers) can cost more than 1000 euros.
I would have loved to see her wearing some valentino or chanel but I can see how by wearing the drindl shes saying shes proud to be bravarian by marriage. Its also pink (to go with the pinks of the flowers and maria's dress). Most importantly its Gloria for once trying to blend in with the crowd to let her child take centre stage (instead of wearing a big yellow dress like Hugo's mother).

I love the dress and everything really except for the brides haircolor. It was very traditional, imo, in a church, child attendants, beautiful flowers, veil, long gown, groom in cutaway.
Gloria looked great, her hair, her pearls, and certainly her dress was silk and made to order.

Maria Theresia is an 'I want to be different bride' Sometimes that ends up in a completely ridiculous looking bride. But I have to say this is a lovely bride. The style suits her, she doesn't look like every single bride nowadays. Really nice, except for her haircolour.
The guest also wanted to look special and 'I am not like all the other people' Unfortunately some guests ended up looking like a clown.

Well, Artist Scene.....
I somehow like the Dress, very different, but I have the Impression, it does not fit perfectly to her.... another tailoring round would have been useful.
The hair-veil-headband combination - hm, this is really not mine and another coiffure would have suited her much better....
The hair colour - awful.

A few weeks ago there was a thread about what royal wedding would you most like to attend. This one would be my choice. The bride reminds me a bit of Kate Winslet, and as for her hair, the brassy color with exposed roots is a 'thing' now.

She looks tacky. It doesn't matter who she is, she looks tacky. Actually, somewhat comical.
