Hey, does anyone have photos about the wedding for King Michael of Romania and Princess Anne of Bourbon-Parma On 10 June 1948 in Athens?
Thanks!

Is Queen Federica of Greece the one near to Queen Anne?

The last Picture , only one Royal Member of Denmark .
No Bourbon Parme attendance , but the Glory of the Greek Royal Princesses.

Might the Bourbon Parme non attendance have been because it wasn't originally recognised by the Catholic Church at the time?
Also post war Europe wasn't the easiest to travel across, physically and politically.

Because Michael and Anne decided to marry without a papal dispensation her uncle Xavier of Bourbon-Parma banned her parents and other members of the House of Bourbon-Parma to attend the wedding. Anne was instead escorted down the aisle by her uncle Erik of Denmark.

Interesting, thanks! One wonders how Prince Xavier would hold such an authority over his brother. He could hardly take any punitive measures if they would have attended. Princess Margaretha seemed to be free spirited so I find it even more surprising why she would listen to her brother-in-law. Perhaps Prince Elias, who was the regent for his elder brother in 1948 - would have some authority on the matter, but still...

Yes, I've been thinking the same re Xavier since he wasn't the Duke du jure at the time of the wedding. Maybe because he was the Carlist King de jure of Spain? Or maybe a misprint of the name although I did read it in a few different sources. Anyone got any ideas?

That explains it all JR76.
How sad for queen Anne not to have her parents and family present.
