Princess Louise was the daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Great Britain.
John Campbell, Marquis of Lorne was the son of George Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll and Elizabeth Campbell, Duchess of Argyll. John would become the 9th Duke of Argyll.
Louise wore a white silk wedding gown. She designed her wedding veil of Honiton lace.

The wedding date was March 21, 1871. The location was St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The Victorian Room of Inveraray Castle is a tribute to the marriage between HRH Princess Louise, the daughter of Queen Victoria, and the Marquis of Lorne, who subsequently became the 9th Duke of Argyll.
A painting of the State wedding ceremony in 1871 in St. George's Chapel, Windsor hangs in the room.
