In 1899 the Infante D. Manuel would have never anticipated that one day he would be the reigning sovereign of Portugal.

It was informative to learn that King Manuel II of Portugal did not like the color blue.
Think of how many times that Prince William, Duke of Cambridge has worn blue suits.

Initiatives to mark the 90th anniversary of the death of King Manuel II:

The Casa de Bragança Foundation, which promotes the initiative, revealed today that the 2022 concert season, with free admission, will honor King Manuel II, on the 90th anniversary of his death.

Eight concerts will take place in the chapel of the Paço Ducal, until October, on the last Friday of the month, and the closing is scheduled for December 9, always at 9:00 pm.

The inaugural concert, this Friday, includes music from the time of D. Manuel II, by a string and wind quartet, made up of Catarina Bastos (violin), Gabriela Barros (viola d'arco), César Gonçalves (cello) and Franz-Jurgen Dorsam (bassoon and arrangements).

The program includes, for the 27th of May, the concert "Musica Pro Anima", by a singing trio, violin and harp, which includes Patrycja Gabrel, Carolina Figueiredo and Ana Castanhito.

The concert "From Bach to Reinaldo Hann" is scheduled for June 24th, by Pedro Vieira de Almeida (piano), Marcos Lázaro (violin) and Ramon Maschio (classical guitar).

On the 2nd of July, the date on which the 90th anniversary of the death of King Manuel II is celebrated, the only concert of this initiative will take place in the church of Agostinhos, at 17:00, by the Invicta All Stars clarinet orchestra, with artistic direction by António Saiote.

The concerts "Camomiana" (July 29), "D. Manuel II and the Romantics -- around Wagner" (August 26), "Voyage through the Mediterranean" (August 30), September), "Portuguese music in the reign of King Manuel II" (28 October) and "Danças Unprevistas" (9 December).
