were they purchased by the NRF at auction? If so, then I don't find it strange, perhaps a little odd, but they are the new owners. Either way, these are amazing!
As far as i know they are not Queen Victoria's earrings but have been removed from a necklace which belonged to Queen Alexandra. Thdere are others Jewels in the Norwegian RF who come from the british RF like the Malteser tiara or the turqiose tiara who is worn by Princess Astrid.

Oh you are quite correct - Queen Alexandra wore them as pendants on the diamond and pearl necklace from her wedding parure; but they were worn as earrings by Queen Victoria.

There was once a discussion about it on the Royal Jewels MB and i think the conclusion was that it where not the same.

Really? On close examination they have always looked the same to me.

Can't really see the earings but I find the necklace rather ugly.

I guess the necklace is a very 1980s design. Just wait a few more years, and it will be bang on trend again.

You can see the whole set quite well here:

Queen Sonja's tiaras:

The Royal Watcher

My favorites are Queen Josephine's Diamond Tiara, the emerald tiara, and the pearl and diamond tiara. The worst here has got to be the gold tiara!

All are very lovely except the ugly Modern Gold Tiara,I don't like that one at all.

I agree with you, the modern gold tiara is.............. in the same category as the Golden Poppies of Denmark.

Its been a while since I have seen Sonja in the Maltese Cross. Any recent sightings?

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Tiara Thursday (on a Friday): The Malteser Tiara

This tiara is one of my least favorites in the royal family. I agree that it is odd looking. The bandeau of it is not special to me either. I actually love Queen Alexandra's version. It has a very regal presence. Though I do not like how Queen Maud wore it. Nevertheless the tiara has a very interesting history however, I am not a fan of it at all.

It does look odd, more so since they removed the diamond fleur de lys from the tiara. Not sure why they did that or what has since happened to them?

It would be nice to see the tiara but back together in its original form again.

Isn't this a replica of the Queen Maud Pearl Tiara the original having been stolen some years back?

Yes, it is :flowers:.
It's a shame that the original has gone forever, but I'm glad that they had the copy made. Although I particularly like the smaller version of it (the one that was also worn by Märtha-Louise and Mette-Marit).

Tiaras Queen Sonja wore at royal weddings and celebrations:

Haakon and Mette Marit: 1

Martha Louise and Ari: 1

Frederik and Mary: 1 2

Victoria and Daniel: 1

Guillaume and Stephanie: 1

Queen Sonja has an impressive and historic tiara collection ,all them are wonderful well except that Modern Yellow Gold Tiara.

I like all the tiaras here- except I don't like the red dress HM wore to Fredrick and Mary's dinner, or the coral dress at the Swedish Royal wedding. Love the color, and the jewels, just not the style of the dress.
Which one is the yellow gold tiara?

The coral dress was at the swedsih Wedding already 20 years old. Queen Sonja had worn exact the same dress/Jewel combination very often for example also at King Carl Gustaf's 50th birthday Gala Dinner in 1996.
