From Her Majesty's Jewel Vault: Queen Alexandra's Wedding Parure

Assuming it's still intact (the necklace) she just might not care for it. She's worn pieces of the parure (brooch and earrings) so maybe the necklace is not to her taste.

Looks like the tiara has been 'disposed of'.

Camilla and then Kate will have access to the rest and if they like it we might see it at some point.

The necklace was used a lot by QEQM, and I suspect it is lying waiting for Camilla to use as consort to the King. HM already has access to Queen Victoria's diamond and pearl necklace, and probably did not want to use another necklace.

It was a big mistake for that tiara to leave the Royal Collection. That was a very impressive piece.

As were a lot of the pieces that ended up with the Gloucesters, Kents, Harewoods etc. Queen Mary built up a large collection of jewels, and dispersed a lot of it as well - all within her right to do so!

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor, quoting The Queen's Diamonds, says that the tiara was left Princess Victoria and that it was "disposed of by her." Victoria remained unmarried so she could act as a companion to her mother. After Alexandra's death, she lived a quiet life in the country until her own death 10 years later. It's possible that she really had no need of a tiara.

What amazes me, though, is why her brother George didn't snap up the tiara for his wife, or how Queen Mary didn't offer to purchase the tiara from her.

George V died a few weeks after his sister, so I am not sure if he had the chance to snap it up.

I wonder when Princess Victoria, aka Toria, disposed of the tiara? l don't think she had any financial hardship, so I suspect that she gifted or bequeathed the tiara, and it left the family via the recipient. My chief suspects are the Kents because Toria was close to her nephew and left him her house. Furthermore the Kents did have financial hardships and are known to have sold jewelry and other assets.

.

I wonder whether someone could contact Hugh Roberts about the fate of this tiara because I've found his wording-disposed of-very frustrating. Didn't he know exactly what happened to it or didn't he consider it important to say what exactly happened to it?
The possibility of ending up with the Kents and then sold quietly because of financial problems is quite plausible...
Or maybe it was sold by Princess Victoria and the money used for charity...

I agree; I've been waiting for it to reappear again and I do think Camilla will be the person to wear it.

QEQM Wedding Gifts

I was looking through the images and research on wedding gifts received by QEQM and it seems like not all of the jewelry gifts have been identified.

For example the Pearl and Diamond Necklace with pendent/brooch to match from her husband

A diamond scroll corsage brooch and matching bracelet from Queen Mary

Is there a complete list with all the pieces identified somewhere?
Also what happened to the impressive sapphires that Queen Mary gave her?

I can just imagine that the Windsor jewel vault is full of largely forgotten or previously unseen gems!

I think I read somewhere that the pearl and diamond necklace was used to make the Lotus/Papyrus tiara.

Really hope we will see these gorgeous bracelets worn again soon. They are so versatile - can be stacked or worn individually. I hadn’t realised that Diana had worn the ruby bracelet during the visit to Australia.

I have no doubt the bracelets will appear again in the future by Queen Camilla. They are light and versatile, and can be worn individually or stacked, just up her street.
