I read that Princess Grace commissioned Cartier to create it. The broach or badge looks appropriate when worn with a sash with royal orders.

Her ring is absolutely breathtaking. Behind Queen Elizabeth II's ring, her ring is my all time favorite engagement ring. The size is perfect, and not over the top. It has all the elements of a ring that I love. It's timeless, elegant, regal, exquisite, and majestic. Her ring is simply beautiful and unforgettable.

I saw the engagement ring at a Cartier exhibit in San Francisco several years ago and was very disappointed. Either Grace Kelly has very small hands or the photos gives an optical illusion. Seeing the ring the diamond did not seem very large. The photos gives a very different picture than seeing it live.

Grace was so mind bogglingly beautiful that I actually don't notice her jewelry first...the eyes are drawn to her.
The only other woman I can ever remember who outshone their jewels was Elizabeth Taylor.

Someone should tell Prince Albert and Princess Charlene that the exhibitions would attract even more visitors if the jewels were still worn from time to time.
Btw, the Van Cleef & Apels tiara never belonged to Grace, she only loaned it once for Caroline's pre-wedding. People really associate this tiara with Grace now, even though there are no good close-up pics of her wearing it. There are only some blurred wide shots from the pre-wedding, I think.

That is the famous tiara that Princess Grace borrowed from Van Cleef & Arpels. She has only worn it once, at Princess Caroline's pre-wedding gala in 1978. There is only one blurry wide shot of Grace wearing it. The tiara is hardly recognizable in that picture, but VC&A exhibited the tiara so often, that people immediately associate it with the late Princess. VC&A has also loaned the tiara to movie productions (eg. the snow white adaptation Mirror, Mirror) and the late Comtesse de Paris has once worn it in a photo shoot for point de vue.
Here is the pic from the pre-wedding. Princess Caroline wears her mother's small diamond tiara.

How would you classify this tiara, if you were, say for example, the Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor and holding a tiara throw-down. I'd call this a mini Kokoschnik, but I know I must be wrong. So, what is it. It's beautiful and the history is fascinating.

Princess Grace's Jewels | The Court Jeweller
She had a beautiful collection of jewels. I love the pearl and diamond set. My favorite tiara that she's worn is the Van Cleef and Arpels. Lastly, her engagement ring is breathtaking.

Yes indeed she had a lovely collection, but most importantly she was so creative in how she wore them. Her collection wasn't the most extensive by any means - not helped by several important pieces missing a generation - but she was one of the first royals to mix and match costume jewellery with precious jewels. I never get tired of seeing pictures of her at balls and state occasions and always on the lookout for fresh pictures.

Wonderful collection and great to see them all,one of the highlights were the gift from Prince Rainier of a set of Van Cleef and Arpels pearl and diamond jewelry.

Moonmaiden23 makes a very valid point regarding the late Princess Grace.
