I loved her sister Noriko's tiara, and was sorry to see it pass out of the tiara rotation, this one is pretty, but also more generic.

I love Ayako's tiara. Sad we won't see it again and that we only got proper photos because she married and left the family. The necklace-tiara at the banquet isn't successful but whatever, she wore a "tiara."
I'm still trying to figure out the tiara Noriko wore to the reception in Shimane Prefecture in 2014. It could be the necklace she wore to the reception in Tokyo.

When Princess Aiko turns 20, I hope she gets the same jewelry designer as the Takamado princesses. Noriko's wave and Ayako's rice/grain designs are different and their necklaces don't exactly mirror ... compared to the Akishino tiaras.
Princess Akiko said her grandmother Princess Yuriko loaned the Empress her second tiara to a state banquet for Ethiopia after WWII. The empress (not clear whether it's then-CP Michiko or Empress Kojun) felt her tiaras were too grand. Princess Yuriko wore 2 bracelets as a tiara to the banquet.
Princess Yuriko loaned her 2nd tiara to her daughters Yasuko and Masako and later to daughter-in-law Princess Hisako for Prince Carl Philip's wedding in 2015.

This is likely to be one of the last times CP Masako will wear this particular tiara. I am so looking forward to seeing her wear the chrysanthemum tiara! It's been much too long since we got to see it, and I think it will look beautiful on her.
I'm also looking forward to seeing how Kiko carries off the larger CP's tiara, especially since the daintier tiara she's worn suits her so well.

Stunning display of Imperial Jewels at the New Years Reception,I often wondered why the Empress is not wearing a tiara?

Michiko stopped wearing tiaras some years ago apparently due to issues with her neck and back, and possibly headaches. If you look at the three tiaras worn by the Empress in the past, they are all on the large side, so I can see where they would have been hard to wear by someone with neck issues. I'm looking forward to seeing Masako wear all three of them!

Will she really get those CP tiaras? I am thinking will Akishino and she receive the title CP. If they don't, I don't think she will get Masako's two CP tiaras (I assume they are only used by CP). Even if they do, I doubt she will get the Scroll tiara as it is Masako's wedding tiara, which means she will only get the Sunburst.

That's an interesting point about the Scroll tiara--I was trying to remember the last time we saw it. I suppose Masako might keep it to use, but that would give her 4 tiaras as Empress, which seems like overkill, and would only leave the sunburst tiara for Kiko. Even though the scroll tiara was associated with Michiko's and Masako's weddings, I'm not sure it indicates where it will end up in the future. I suppose we'll find out!
I have a feeling that if nothing else, Fumihito will be eager to acquire all the perks that come with being CP, and I'm guessing that this will include his wife having access to the tiaras. Next year at this time we should have a better idea of how this will play out.

Considering Masako has two tiaras as CP, I think it would be fair/reasonable for Kiko only gets the Sunburst (2 tiaras with the one she already owned). Then the Scroll may be retire and leave to the next CP?
Not sure how they work, the only thing we can do is to wait and see

The Imperial Household law says that the "son of the emperor who is the imperial heir" is called Kotaishi (normally translated as Crown Prince). Since Akishino will be the Emperor's brother, I assume he won't be Kotaishi, even though he will be the heir.
In European terms, it is analogous to the convention whereby the title of Crown Prince is used by heirs apparent, but not by heirs presumptive.

This is true, but whatever term is used to describe Fumihito after Naruhito's enthronement, it is clear that in effect he will be acting as the heir, in Western terms, the crown prince. There's no reason to assume that he and his wife will not have the perks (including tiaras) that go along with that role.
Between the retired emperor and empress, and Akishino, there are going to be several new formal terms entered into usage.

If Kiko gets access to the tiaras now worn by Masako the question is if she will get first opnly one or both from the start. masako wore for years only her wedding tiara before she started to wear the sunburst pearl tiara.

I would love to see Masako in Princess Chichibu's tiara. I thought it was lovely on Empress Michiko, and think it would suit Masako. And like you, Prisma, I'm also curious to see what else might be shaken loose from the Imperial vaults that we haven't seen in a while (or ever ).
