Grand Victoria of Baden's brooch
Q Victoria, Silvia

Worn by Queen Silvia for the first time at the return dinner at the state visit in Germany
Great that we have photo document that Q Victoria has worn the brosch

Arthur at Royal Jewels of the World Message Board had an ide if the brosch were from late Count Carl-Johan Bernadotte (uncle of King Carl XVI Gustaf), whose second wife, Countess Gunnila

have we seen Gunilla with such a brosch?
can we trace the brosch to Queen Victorias mother grand duchess of baden?

If it went via Carl-Johan, then it went this way:

Gustaf V af Sverige
x Victoria von Baden
= Gustaf VI Adolf af Sverige

Gustaf VI Adolf af Sverige
x Margaret of Connaught
= Carl-Johan Bernadotte af Wisborg

Count Carl-Johan had no natural children. He had an adopted daughter (Monica) and an adopted son (Christian) and via them six grandchildren. He married for a second time with Countess Gunilla Wachtmeister af Johannishus (she died a few weeks ago). Countess Gunilla had three surviving children from her first marriage.

When Count Carl-Johan indeed was the owner of the Baden Broche, this means he bypassed his two adopted children, his six grandchildren, his second wife, his three stepchildren, etc.

I believe it was Queen Ingrid's favorite jewelry and that she brought it with her from Sweden to Denmark. As far as I know it doesn't belong to the crown.

Actually, it was Queen Louise, the consort of King Frederik VIII, who brought the Ruby Set to Denmark from Sweden. There is a significant amount of Bernadotte jewelry that is now in either Denmark or Norway.

i think the journey of the jewllery is possible
it could be sold back to the royal family after Carl-johan and gunilla died
not many events were such a brosch can be worn for non royals
but have we seen gunilla wear this brosch?
if its have been in in the care of Carl-Johan we should have seen it?

I always thought that the Swedish broosch collection was rather small
we cant compare it to England but it seems that its not so much smaller then the Netherlands

these brooches posted above does not include brooches belonging to sets or parures

I read somewhere that this tiara originally belonged to Wachtmeister-Johannishus family.

You are right, the tiara came from Countess Gunilla's own family, not from her husband's side of the family. It's a pity that the heirs won't keep it, but I assume that they have no occasion to wear such a jewel.

Hey all I've a got question about the sapphire demi parure Princess Birgitta inherited from Princess Siybilla.
For the royal wedding in 2011 she wore the necklace and earrings from the set

However for the banquet she a wore a set of diamond earrings
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/d3/19/c5/d319c587c994273d0ee93285e18aa596.jpg

Of course I dont expect you to know why she changed them but I do remember her playing with one of them on the walk from the Royal Palace to the great cathedral
Could it be that she might've lost one?
Shes only worn the set once since then, at the royal wedding in 2013 and even for that outing she did not wear the sapphire earrings but a pair of diamond ones

I know that this will more or less remain a mystery but I thought it rather interesting so I posted it here

When I saw twice Bettina's small tiara , I thought to her Grandfather who married a Grand Duchess of Russia.

By accident I found this video on Youtube on European Royal Jewels:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NsA_mrR360 (from 14:40 - in Swedish)

But that is not that main point. The expert Jan Erkinantti argues that Queen Josephine's Pearl necklace, with pendant pearl drops, were the pearls that could replace the sapphires in the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara.

I don't know if this is true or not, and I don't know the story of the necklace that well to know if we haven't seen the tiara in the pearl version since the necklace left the main line.

hi all :) this is a very interesting thread indeed!
i've learned to recognise almost all of the 'swedish' tiaras and it's amazing.

but here are two that i've googled and googled about and found nothing. does anyone know what tiaras these are? perhaps it's private property but it's still interesting.

first is count estelle bernadotte:

t8w2km.jpg

and second is karin bernadotte.
xp9dh0.jpg

crossing fingers :) thankyou!

A beautiful picture of Countess Jill at Carl Philip and Sofia's wedding in 2015 wearing Countess Estelle's diamond tiara and an interesting set of diamonds and aquamarines. Also note the miniature of Carl XIV Johan - Link

It looks stunning in its orginal necklace form too,its rare that a piece can work so well in different forms!

The diamond bandeau has only ever been seen on Countess Estelle Bernadotte. It looks like a convertible bracelet to me.

The tiara of Countess Karin has never been seen publicly again. It's probably sold or was a loan in the first place, if you ask me.
