Her tragedy surpassed the imagination of ancient Greek playwrights. Carol's vindictive decision to separate the young boy from his mother and her from Michael was abominable. I guess, the emotional repercussions of all that can be easily recognized in the shyness and retiring behavior of King Michael who, despite a happy marriage, seems to having never overcome the devastation caused to him by this separation during childhood.
