Time goes fast, one year today from the death of the beloved princess
https://s24.postimage.org/3k2r0ko8l/brollop_683.jpg
From Expressen:
Silvia and Victoria mourned yesterday Princess Lilian.
A year after her death, she was abundantly present for the entire royal family and in the morning flowers were put to her grave at the Royal Cemetery at the Haga Park. A bouquet of tulips in various colors, to honor her memory.
- Princess Lilian is still alive in the family. The Queen and the Crown Princess speak often warmly about her, Annika Sönnerberg from the press department says.
- Princess Lilian stood the royal family very close and she is a person that everyone in the family often speak warmly about. Princess's Lilian's memory is kept very much alive, Sönnerberg says.
The King and Queen and Crown Princess Victoria chose yesterday not to officially alert Lilian's birthday. Prince Daniel and Prince Carl Philip had official program at the Royal Palace when they met Prince Radu and Prince Nicholas of Romania.
- No, it's something they keep in the family. There was nothing of an official nature and they have not planned to do nothing like that. Lilian was a family member who was all very close, Sönnerberg explains.
For Crown Princess Victoria was the anniversary and grief very special. Lilian was not just a friend, she was also the grandmother Victoria never got to experience, the king's mother Princess Sibylla died in 1972, five years before Victoria's birth. At Lilian got Crown Princess Victoria always comfort and advice. It was Lilian who was always there when Victoria had problems and therefore became her passing last year extra hard just for Victoria.
At the Palace princess Lilian and even her deceased husband Prince Bertil are often a topic of conversation:
- It is not only the anniversary of the Princess's death noted, but her memory is kept constantly alive. She meant a lot to Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine, Sönnerberg says.
The article has many lovely photos of Lilian with the members of the royal family.

The Princess' death still gives me nightmares, i simply cannot believe she's not with us anymore. I used to know Lilian through mutual friends, back in the good old days when she was a model... a sweet creature, truly princess material. The good ones are all gone, it's not fair.

Svensk Damtidning wrote a couple of weeks ago, that Christine Robinson has had to sell the apartment in Mayfair which she inherited from princess Lilian. She would have wanted to live in the apartment, but she couldn't afford to pay the 40 % inheritance tax, so she sold the apartment.

People can't afford to live in the city anymore. Where have the old times gone?

When princess Lilian died, some decorations and orders were submitted to the Changellery of the Orders (Kungl. Maj:ts Orden) at the Royal Palace. This necklace was among them. It is likely that the princess got it in connection with the Latvian state visit 31 March to 1 April 2005, when she was awarded the Latvian Order of the Three Stars. The Chancellery of the Orders donated the necklace to the Royal Armoury (Livrustkammaren).

Wow, Princess Lillian and CP Victoria look very close in those photographs. What a loss for her personally.

I remember reading somewhere that Victoria had looked so forward to Lilian getting to know her Children, but when Estelle was born and they took her to meet her Great Auntie, the Dementia had taken such a hold the poor lady didn't know who they were. If true and knowing how close they were, the pain Victoria must have experienced from that...I can't even imagine. :(

I just stumbled upon this blogpost which features some articles that were sold in Princess Lilian's Estate Sale after her death. I though you all might enjoy seeing them as well.

Hopefully Lilian did not mind, but that picture of that singer on Lilian's lap makes me cringe.
What I learned today: the Laurel Wreath Tiara looks good when worn with a bouffant hairstyle.

At the website of the Royal Palaces
Come on a virtual tour of the previous exhibition The Lilian Look, and see clothing fit for a princess up close. Click on the image above to start the tour.
In 2015, an exhibition was staged at the Royal Palace of Stockholm featuring around thirty different garments worn by Princess Lilian for royal representation and family events.
