A Lady of great style and another beautiful story of true love.
I wonder what has happened to the wonderful Scarab necklace. I hope it hasn't been sold off.
Reminds me of the Arabian nights, and i think that necklace belonged to Bertils mother the Crown Princess Margaret. She and her husband enjoyed Egypt and fell in love there I think, as the story goes.

Yes, Gustav and Margaretha met and got engaged in Egypt.
The necklace was inherited by Queen Silvia when Lilian died.

Photo from a blog of a man, who met princess Lilian in 1997, wrote a letter to her in 1999 and they became friends. He visited Lilian a few times, this photo is from 2006.

Royal expert Roger Lundgren reminisces princess Lilian at his Instagram
"An old favorite. Together with Princess Lilian, 1997. She became a personal friend. She was incredibly funny and the one who taught me to drink gin and tonic. A good feature"

I did not realize Princes Lillian was 98 when she passed. She was a very beautiful and elegant lady. I loved the way the family always escorted her to functions and she was always there smiling.

My gosh...I am obsessively in love with Princess Lilian's tiara in the 4th photo from the top!

Where is it now?

The tiara, which originally was a wedding gift from Queen Sofia to Margaret of Connaught when she married the future Gustav VI Adolf in 1905, was left by Lilian to Crown Princess Victoria.

Victoria looks just as gorgeous in it as her Aunt Lilian.

One of the most elegant Royal tiaras I have ever seen.

I love it too, it's Boucheron, if I remember correctly. It can also be worn as a necklace.

Lillian was indeed a much valued member of the Swedish royal family after her long delayed marriage to Prince Bertil.

However, who left the Margaret of Connaught tiara to Lillian? Did it come to her through Bertil being left it by his father King Gustav Adolf for use by his future wife? Or was this tiara just a general part of the Swedish royal collection and by usage it became associated with Lillian, so King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia gave her it after their wedding?
