About the reinaugurated Bernadotte Museum, in the house where Jean Baptiste Bernadotte was born. The house is built around 1730.

Today in Royal History is the 221st Wedding Anniversary of Jean Bernadotte (later Charles XIV John of Sweden and Norway) and Désirée Clary (later Queen Desideria)

If Napoleon Bonaparte had originally married Desiree, would she have become Empress of the French?

Bernadotte illegitimate twins?
I posted a couple of years ago asking about the illegitimate daughter of Jean Baptiste Bernadotte. There appears to be some new information. Cajsa, appears to have been a twin with Carl. They were born on February 25, 1813 and baptised on the 28th. Parents listed was Anders Johansson and his wife Ingeborg with the age of 38.
This would certainly complicate issues if Bernadotte had a son, even illegitimately.
If any one has further information please post to this forum.
Tak.

King Charles XIV's family name was originally Deu Pouey. This name was changed to Bernadotte in the beginning of the 17th century.
Would it have taken a while to get use to the House of Deu Pouey of Sweden?

Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte never carried the family name of Pouey. It was his great-great-grandfather Pierre deu Bernadotte whose name was changed from deu Pouey, the name of his father, to deu Bernadotte, the name of his mother.
