Starting November 1, 2006, copyrighted photos may be posted directly onto The Royal Forums ONLY if you have written permission from the photographer or photo agency who owns the photos (copyright) OR if you took the photo yourself.
As before, the source of the photo needs to be included with the photo
and the words "Posted with permission from {name of source}".
Since photo agencies
never give permission for watermarked photos to be posted anywhere, all watermarked photos posted after November 1, 2006 will be deleted without notice.
The easiest way to share images with other members on the forum will be to copy URLs of their original location on the internet into your post. Members here will then be able to refer to and discuss these images just as before.
The only pictures that can be posted without source (and permission) are pictures that are in the public domain. Photos taken before the First World War are almost certainly in the public domain, as are photos on the very few websites which clearly identify their content as not being copyrighted.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that we all pay attention to these rules. If you post a photo onto this site that you do not have permission to post, the owner of the photo (photographer or photo agency) may choose to take legal action against you. Unfortunately, this forum will not be able to provide you with protection if this happens.
