I tried to copy a image from a website but it wouldn't load as when I clicked on browse it opened My Pictures on my computer. I am still a bit technically challenged so any help will be appreciated.
Also how do I make sure I am not infringing copyright?
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, you should save it to your computer and then upload it to Image Shack.
The only way to make sure you don't infringe copyright is to always cite the source of the pictures.
Hope this helps.:)

Thanks very much.
I would like to know for instance if I am copying a photo from The Knot wedding website do I state the website as the source or do I have to find the photographer's name or agency?
Thanks Again.

It helps to find the original source if you can. If not, you can cite the source where you found the photo. The more original sources we can cite, the less likely we are to get into trouble for copyright violation.

Here is my dumb question:
(this info doesn't seem readily available via the PHotobucket site):
I have posted images through Photobucket. I have the photos stored on the Photobucket site. Can I now delete them from "My Pictures" in my computer hard drive? I would like to delete them from my computer but am afraid it will remove a link. I assume I can delete them and that is why Photobucket is a "host" - I just want to make sure.
THANK YOU.

Lady Jean no question is a dumb question. Once the pictures are saved to Photobucket, you can delete them from your hard drive.

Two ways of posting the images stored in a Photobucket account:
As a full-sized pic:
Click on the Img code box beneath the Photobucket image; this will highlight the line of code;
Edit - Copy.
go back to the Forums...
position the cursor in your post;
Edit - Paste.
You will see a line of code.
When you click on Preview Post the image will magically appear.
Submit Reply to post it on the Board.
As a Photobucket thumbnail:
In Photobucket, click in the tiny box that is next to the picture title.
Go to the bottom of the Photobucket page and click on Generate HTML and IMG code.
a screen of different codes will appear.
choose this one: IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended
Highlight all the code in this box (drag your cursor);
Edit - Copy.
Back to the Forums...
Edit - Paste.
Preview Post to see what it looks like;
Submit Reply to post it on the Board.
Older pics must not be directly attached to the Forum as "normal" thumbnails.

Photobucket has three options:
1) for a direct link back to your Photobucket with the image.
2) for just a thumbnail that when clicked on will enlarge the image's full size
3) the full size image
To get the full size image, use the IMG link that is provided below your picture.

My photobucket shrinks my pictures. It says that images larger than 1 MB will be shrinked automatically, but photobucket shrinks it so that the picture is tiny. Is there anyway that you can modify it so it shrinks less? I hope this makes sense.

Photo posting
I would like to know becuase of the new rules. I would like to host an image via Gettyimages etc. How do i post a link to an individual picture? When i open a picture there is no URL link!!! So i would have to post the link to all the photographs on that page.
What i would like to do is post the link to one photo at a time.

Right-click the image, select properties and copy the address of the image from the box that will appear.
Hope this helps

I'm sure that somebody can help me with this. How can I post a picture from a website and change the long link into a caption such as 'Princes x visits school'. I'm referring mainly to 'getty' as their picture links are really long!
Thanks in advance

If you write the caption, and then press the "globe with a chain" icon, a pop-up comes up where you can add the URL.
An alternate way of doing it is: [_URL="LINK"_]TEXT[_/URL_] (Without the underscores.)

i always use photobucket to get my pics onto forums. I've heard Imageshack's pretty good too. Lately Photobucket's been a bit slow though and AOL sometimes stops 'responding' for about a minute then it comes to normal.
Tip: If you're uploading pics into one of these thingies lol, try to always make sure they're file is JPG or JPEG cos they'll be quicker. It's the same case if you're transfering pics on msn.

Please help!
I am struggling to link a photo/picture from Imageshack to my posts.
I am registered with Imageshack and have hosted my photos, I click in the link box for Forums and copy and then paste it to my post when I preview the post I can see the thumbnail but when you click on the picture Imageshack opens but you don't see a larger version just there homepage. I have tried to paste just the link but this doesn't seem to work either.
What am I doing wrong?
Is it easier to use photobucket?
Thanks for the support

I think youve set your " image options on to avatar or thumbnail", if so, when you upload an image, automatically it'll reduce it to the size of what is selected. You can change the size by gotting to "options"(youll also be able to see what size its set currently at) a small button just above the upload bar. Let me know how it works out
