Hi! Our computer was infected with a certain virus (the one that affects the keyboard, sometimes it disables certain keys, and sometimes it types its own unendlessly. We have it cleaned and the person ho fixed it said its a virus that goes with pictures & videos that you download). I was so sad because my husband is blaming it on me (and the royal forums) because he always sees me downloading photos and videos from here. Isn't that unfair? And now I only peek here whenever he's not home  I am not convinced that I got the virus from here. Because I've been downloading photos from here for years now and it only happened now. Please tell me if there's anybody here who experienced the same thing. How can I convinced my hubby it's not from the royal forums. Thanks a lot.

You take a risk anytime you download anything, whether it's pictures, videos, songs, etc. You also take a risk whenever you download new software into your computer.

Unless you only visit one place on the internet and don't add any software other than what came pre-loaded on your computer, then you can't really blame it on one place.

I would suggest that you get a better anti-virus and firewall software.

I, too, have been viewing pictures and videos from this forum for years. I have never had a problem. The only problem in fact, that I've had with any picture from any website or forum or message board that I've ever visited was with a picture from the Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth board. (It was a bad picture that froze the entire file where the picture was saved.) But I wouldn't go and blame them -- it was a risk I took when I saved the picture to my own computer.

One thing you can do when clicking on a link to open a new page is to mouse over the link to make sure it's taking you where it says it's taking you. Some jokers will use embedded links to misdirect people to pages that are different from the pages they say they're sending you to.

Have a look at these links.

Click here to go to the British Royal Family home page.

Click http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page1.asp to go to the British Royal family home page.

Click here to go to the British royal family home page.

Click http:///www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page1.asp to go to the British Royal Family home page.

In the last case I had to make a small change to the link to make the redirect work (note the http:///, which in most cases people won't register), but in some boards they'll let you embed one link that directs you to another.

BTW, the non-royal site isn't one that'll give you viruses; I'm just using an irrelevant site for illustration. It is a site that'll waste a lot of your time if you let it, however.:D
