About Berber names, I like :
For a girl: Tiziri and for a boy Yarmoracen
But it would be a miracle if they choose them; especially as said isis that Salma is from Fez, I don't think that she will accept a Berber name for her baby, since she isn't Berber
They gave at their first child the name of his grandfather, as did H2 with his first son, and probably, in the same, for their second, they won't be original, and they will choose a name that was used in the MRF

For Moulay el Hassan, they hesitate a lot between HASSAN and YOUSSEF, so if the baby will a boy, may be they'll finally choose Youssef

and if it's a girl I thnik they will choose an old name from the King's family

because when these berber dynasties had the power, none deny the berber identity of Moroccan people, and to give arab names was a symbol of the attachement of these dynasties at the islam
but, now in Morocco, it isn't the case, for example in many regions, administration don't acdept berber name and the berber culture is the poor parent in morocco
if M6 and Salma give a berber name for their child it would be a good politician gesture to say the two identities berber and arab are equal in morocco
but I am sure that they will don't do it, because none of the two is enough subtle to have this kind of idea

I think that Issue is more Complicated:
cuz from 5 berbers that you meet there is only Half one how have a berbe name and really I don't know why cuz there is a lot of beautiful berbers name(yanir,yoghrta,jopa...),I have a berber friend his name is massinissa and this name wasn't his native name he have an arabic one before he change it.so the question is why the berber ppl don't give to thier children a berber name??it's because off administration like rosa said??I don't think so,my friend didn't have any problems to change his name.and if we said that's a problem of administration in morocco why the berbers who live in Abroad don't give a berber name to there children I think they have more freedom to do it there!! we have to know that in morocco there is not 100% berber familly or 100% arabic familly, in every berber familly there is arabic member(uncl,Grandfather,Grandma..)or berber one in arabic familly and we have to addmit that berber name are not used in morocco.
if lalla salma and m6 give her child a berber name, yes I agree with rosa it will be a nice gesture, but there is more than one berber tribein country:rif, sous, ait atta... choose a name from one tribe will not be Admired by the other and ppl will said why he choose name from rif not sous..and other they will just think why he will do that when he can give his child an arbic and muslim name wich most the berbers have.
if they give a berber name to there baby that very nice if no it's not big deal.
at least why Blame ppl for not doing things that ppl who suppose to do don't do it.
and rosa berber and arab ppl are equal in morocco.they have the same Rights, thet same Duties, the same problems and the same hope.

I agree with everything you said. There's no need to attack the king for not respecting or loving or paying a tribute to the berber culture, for his own mother, Lalla Latifa, is of berber origin. Thus HE is berber.

I think that if the king and Salma choose a berber name,it will look just fake like if they are trying to proof something,as Berbers themselves now and from previous berber dynasties use calssic arab names.

I know many barber people here from Morocco and Algeria, the impression that I have is that the Moroccan berbers are just Moroccans and don't have any feeling to be out of the moroccan culture or to be ignored, inlike some Algerian berber kabyles who tries hardly to show that they are something other and different than the rest of Algerians.

I checked that on one of my berber friends, and he said berber names are allowed in Morocco,(and not in Algeria),but berber people prefer classic arab names.

In Morocco only some names are not allowed Berber or Arab,if they have some weird meanings, the same goes for some arab names,so for example arab names like Saddam or Bin Leden are not allowed, for the reasons that we know, and he said that names of animals, cities, countries are also not allowed, arabic or berber,he said that Aghiles means Leo,and that's why it's not allowed as names of animals are not allowed.

After all governoment has the right to protect his subjects from weird names which will make problems more than anything other, and Berber if they want, they can choose within the allowed berber names, like the arabs one,And I still think that the King and salma don't have to give a berber name to be proud about their identity, because they are just Moroccans, and so Moroccans call their kids,so why u judge them or ask them more that what's done usually.

I repeat it again, berber names doesn't accept in many regions in Morocco, and Berber culture isn't the equal of the arab one, only arabic is national and official language in morocco, 99% of tv programms are in arabic, berber language isn't learned in all schools in morocco
the militants of the berber culture were put in jail during the time of hassanII, because they ask from more right for their culture (and these militants were from all regions of morocco, and work hand in hand to Berber culture), then don't say me that the arabic culture berber ar equal in morocco
the power did all what he can to kill this culture, and to make the berber forget their language and identity, but fortunately, he can't

I completely agree with you rosa, the situation was and still difficult for berber culture in morocco, and the power must give it all its right

I realize the relevance of the current discussion in relation to a possible name for King Muhammad and Lalla Salma's second baby but I dont want this thread to turn into a debate over Berber vs. Arab culture in Morocco.
I'd hate to start deleting posts for being off-topic. Please keep your comments focused on the subject at hand.

you're right Humera, I don't know what is the relation between the name of baby and the berber and arab culture!! they will call their baby as they like! I don't know what are you looking for from this debate!!
The baby will be a moroccan beutiful prince or princess, like his /her brother Moulay Alhassan

it's true that this thread isn't the place to speak about berber and arabe culture, but I think that we can speak about the idea to give a berber name for a moroccan prince or princess
about the fact that they are free to call their baby as they like, I don't share your opinion,They aren't free, they are the royal couple, and all what they do, has his importance, even the name of their baby, I can say you that the fact that they called their son Hassan wasn't appreciated, by everybody in Morocco, because Hassan II did a lot of bad things, and many persons wanted that the crown prince, has another name that doesn't recall, the former king
If they want to be free to do what they want, they can let the power at others, and I think they are many persons as or more competent than M6
to lead this country
