One of the few recent accounts of him comes from a young woman who fled Zanzibar with the royal family. She was a ward of the Sultan's. It mentioned as of 2012, he was in Portsmouth with his wife and 6 of his children.
There was also mention in 2016, in an article about heirs in exile in London.

There was an issue back in the 60's about the expense of paying for them to live in the UK as the government had been footing the bill. But little since.
They are related to the royal house of Oman. Said Bin Sultan ruled over the united sultanate of Zanzibar and Oman. He died in 1856 and his kingdom was divided in to two. His son Majid became the first sultan of Zanzibar, and his elder son Thuwani became sultan of Oman. Thuwani's son was later deposed but the throne eventually returned to the family. A third son, Turki, became Sultan of Oman. He is the great-great grandfather of the current sultan of Oman.
