During this day, everyone dressed up in new elegant dresses and receives tika and blessings from the elders. The women prepare the tika; a mixture of rice, vermilion, and yogurt. The elders also give the younger ones Dakshina and blessings to be the right person and for their better future. During Dashain, people with their families visit their elders to seek tika (a dab of red vermilion mixed with yogurt and rice) accompanied by blessings. The red tika take as a symbol of the blood that ties the family together forever. All the family members away from home, gather together and receive tika from the elder one. Former king's meeting with RPP ministers and leaders, emphasis on Hindu monarchy with democracy
King Gyanendra met with all the high-level leaders of the Rashtriya Prajatantra party and urged them to strongly raise demand for Rajya and the Hindu monarchy. During his stay in Jhapa, Gyanendra, who has been to and from Chitwan, Janakpur and Simra, asked him to strongly raise his position on the Hindu Rajya and monarchy in Parliament at a meeting with RPP President Rajendra Lingden.
On the 7th of February, the birth anniversary of former king Gyanendra will be held in the east. Sources say that preparations are being made to celebrate the birth anniversary at one of the tea gardens in Itahari, Dhulabari or Damak and a decision will be taken in a few days. According to the sources, the ex-king's relatives and RPP leaders are also going east to celebrate the anniversary. Sources say royalist and RPP leaders will meet at a birthday party to be held at a hotel or area in the eastern region.

On March 2, 9 Nepalese political parties signed a joint manifesto condemning the resurgence of monarchist activities in Nepal. In a long editorial, The Telegraph newspaper claims that a restoration plan for King Gyanendra Shah is being finalized.
According to the newspaper, India, China and Russia would be maneuvering to put an end to the anarchic political situation which reigns in Nepal.
Still according to this newspaper, "India, China and the Russian Federation have invited King Gyanendra to Bangkok to finalize the deal". It is impossible to confirm this information at this stage which could only be the subject of speculation.
King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was ruler of Nepal between 1950 and 1951, 2001 and 2008 before being overthrown in a revolution. He is very present in the politics of his country and has launched a campaign in favor of the restoration of the monarchy.
