Montaza Palace, Alexandria
Here are some links...

Montaza Palace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - very basic, but two good photos
Montaza Palace and gardens - various reviews and pictures by visitors
Webshots - many pictures
a picture showing the Palace's coastal setting.
"The El-Montaza Palace & Gardens in Alexandria was built by Khedive Abbas II (reigned 1892-1914). The Turko-Florentine palace was renovated by King Fouad in 1926 and is now the presidential summer residence. The surrounding 1.4 square kilometer gardens are open to the public."

leaving the best till last...
Montaza Palace - A spectacular image on Flickr. The architectural style seems to be a combination of everything.

Thanks Warren. It looks as beautiful as it did, years and years ago.
In one of the pictures I think it mentioned Pres Mubarak. I wonder if he uses part of the Palace as a summer retreat.

Is it closed altogether now? Did the casino close down as well?
Please check the photos posted in the post by Warren. There is a reference about Pres Mubarak. Also tell me does the Maamoura beach adjacent to the Palace still exist?
Thank you.

Happy New Year! The Montazah palace is open sometimes for visitors. It is a museum as far as I know. It was closed when I visited Montazah last summer (around 4:00PM). Yet it is still beautiful as ever! We enjoyed the sea and scenery at Le Prince Restaurant close by the palace (awesome food). Maamoura is still there though it got crowded and poorly maintained.
I hope this answers your question!

The palace itself is closed but the casino, restaurants and the hotel are all working.
sorry, I can't check the photo as my Explorer doesn't open pics.
About Maamoura,Yes,it still exists but it is no longer considered the high society residence as it was.and as Selim said it becomes popular and crowded with poor maintainance.

Beatiful pictures of the Egypt royal family of the past.
What about King Fouad and his 3 children he had with Dominique Piccard.

Last time I heard anything the children have sided with their mother and do not have any contact with their father.
Prince Fuad has spent some time in a Swiss hospital and has been supported by his half sisters. The marriage between him and "Queen" Fadila has ended a long time ago and they have not managed to be on friendly terms.

Oh Asma and Selim thank you so much. I remember Maamoura as a beautiful well maintained resort. It is a pity it has not been kept up.
What are the Palaces of Ras el Tin and Abdine used as now?

Ex-Queen Fadila seems to be completely ignored by the nowadays jet-set.
Their divorce took years , it was not ended a long time ago Odette .

Thank you Maria Olivia. Their marriage ended a long time ago. They were not very friendly or agreeable to a quick friendly divorce.

Thank you Hoda. Two birds with one stone. Abdine Palace is now a museum and in my old neighbourhood they house the jewelry museum.

I am sad for King Fouad who lost the last of his half-sisters. They were very closed to-gether specially during Fouad's difficult divorce which took years.
