Questions Regarding House of Bohemia

Hi, I just joined the thread and would like to know if an officer serving the House of Bohemia had to be royal or noble? Did the officers in the House of Bohemia/Austria - Hungarian have to be royal/noble?

Did the officer have to already know German or Italian, or could they be taught it? If an officer made officer rank, would they be referred to as "LT" or as "Herr"?

Count Janos Mailath was a Hungarian author. Janos, Count Mailath | Hungarian author | Britannica.com

Széchy or Szécsi was a Hungarian noble family in the Kingdom of Hungary.
Nicholas Szécsi served as the ban of Croatia between 1358 and 1366 and between 1377 and 1380. He served as judge royal three times.

Well let's hope that Petr Nohel and the Czech Crown (Monarchist Party of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia) actually take advantage and recruit more members to the party. I've got to say, 800 members isn't exactly too bad for a nation like the Czech Republic, now they just need to find a dynasty that would love to become the Czech Royal Family assuming if Archduke Karl von Habsburg doesn't bite.

Báthory family

The Báthory family (Polish: Batory) was a Hungarian noble family of the Gutkeled clan. The family rose to significant influence in Central Europe during the late Middle Ages, holding high military, administrative and ecclesiastical positions in the Kingdom of Hungary. In the early modern period, the family brought forth several Princes of Transylvania and one King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.

Elizabeth Báthory (died 1614), daughter of George VI and through her mother niece of the Polish King Stephen Báthory, infamous as the "Blood Countess", one of the first known serial killers. Descendant of both the Ecsed and Somlyó branches of the Bathory family.

The Coat of arms of Elizabeth Báthory really saw a lot about the subject matter!

You can see that there are 4 famillies. I guess that if they were so important they were part of high nobility. The best thing is that u write to Hungarian State Archives, or go and look into Siebmachers Wappenbuch for Hungary.

Did you know the British Royal Family has Hungarian roots? Some of their ancestors were from Hungary, like Violant of Hungary, Queen of Aragon, an ancestor of Isabella of France, Queen of England. Diana Frances Spencer is descended from Anne of Bohemia and Hungary, the daughter of Vladislaus II of Hungary.

And Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are also descendants of Anne of Bohemia & Hungary through another daughter Maria Duchess of Cleves. Anne is Prince Philip's matrilineal line only ancestor, and Queen Victoria's too.

Queen Mary's (wife of George V) paternal grandmother was a Hungarian countess.

The closest Hungarian link in the British royal family is Princess Michael of Kent born Marie-Christine Anna Agnes Hedwig Ida Freiin von Reibnitz. Her mother is Maria Anna Freifrau von Reibnitz born Countess Szápáry de Muraszombath, Széchysziget et Szapár.

:previous: True but that only applies to Lord Freddie and Gabrielle and their kids having Hungarian roots. Not the BRF.

Countess Claudine Rhédey von Kis-Rhéde is the most recent Hungarian blood of the main line of the BRF. Though she was born in Transylvania (Romania) she was Hungarian. She was the mother of Frances of Teck, Queen Mary's father.

Johan Friso, the common ancestor of all monarchies today in Europe. His wife Marie Louise was a great-great granddaughter of Marie Eleanore of Cleaves. Marie was the niece of Anne of Cleaves on her father's side, and granddaughter of Anne of Bohemia and Hungary on her mother's side.
