Barnens iskalla present till mamma Silvia

KIRUNA.

I saw yesterday a special about queen Silvia. It was a nice intervieuw. She don't look like she is 60 years old. The special about queen Silvia was on Ard 1 ( German television) ;)

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but Queen Silvia looks **** good for being 60! If anyone can change the perception of what 60 looks like, it will be Silvia!

Interesting that as a child Victoria resembled her mother. I don't think they look very much alike now as adults. I don't think Victoria resembles her father, either, however. I think she has the Queen's smile, and other passing resemblances, but not a strong family resemblance between mother and daughter the way there is say between Phillippe of Belgium and his daughter Elisabeth or Naruhito of Japan and his daughter Aiko.

But lucky Victoria is he has inherited her mother's good looks.

Yes, very true. I'm sure we have that photo somewhere but they did look alike. And it's a good thing too on the her getting her mother's good looks as oppose to her father's.

At IBL are already photos of the concert...maybe someone can post all (I´m at my parents home, and they have just a 56kb-Modem)
ONE BIG question: Is that all REAL fur at the coats of the ladies??!

Landmark Royal Birthdays Round the Globe

23 DECEMBER 2003
It's a royal birthday extravaganza this week with both Queen Silvia of Sweden and Japan's Emperor Akihito celebrating milestone ages.

Dressed in vibrant orange, Queen Silvia marked the eve of her 60th birthday on Monday by attending a command performance of Tchaikovsky 's Nutcracker Suite in Stockholm. Joined by King Carl Gustav and Prince Carl Philip – both wearing tuxedos – the queen's daughters, Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine, were characteristically elegant in sparkling evening gowns as they took their places in the royal box.

Meanwhile, in Asia, Emperor Akihito of Japan rang in his 70th birthday. As hundreds of well-wishers waved national flags below, the emperor and his wife Empress Michiko waved from the balcony of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Nearly a year after undergoing prostate cancer surgery, the emperor issued words of support for his own subjects struggling to push ahead. "I understand that people have faced various kinds of hardship in their daily life," he said. "I hope that the coming year will be a good year for you all."
