Queen Silvia and the Silvia Home & Foundation

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I know this is likely a stupid question but what are the Silvia sisters? Are they nuns or are they just a name for nurses? I had the same question about the Sofia ones

From the website of Silviahemmet Foundation:
The foundation continues to educate assistant nurses and nurses in cooperation with Sophiahemmet University. This year there will be 550 assistant nurses who have received the title Silviasister and 206 nurses with the title Silvianurse. In cooperation with the Karolinska Institutet the international and swedish Master Course in Dementia Care for Physicians have 25 students this year. The first six Silvia Doctors received their title from H.M. Queen Silvia in 2015.
Next year the first Silvia Occupational therapists and Silvia Physiotherapists will be decorated. Read more about Karolinska Institutet’s Master’s Courses in Dementia Care for Occupational therapists and Physiotherapists.
Silviahemmet also provides non academic education programs, for example education for familycarers as well as other professionals in the health care and social care sector. The foundation certifies the education level for nursinghome units as well as hospital wards. Today 38 units are certified by Silviahemmet and more units are in process.
Silviahemmet has also co-founded the Swedish Dementia Center, the national competence center for dementia.

So silvia sisters are assistant nurses (I assume like a LPN here)? And silvia nurses are the full? That makes more sense. Just never heard sister used to refer to a nurse, except perhaps the grey nuns here in Canada who in the past worked in hospitals as nurses often.

Queen Silvia told at Stiftelsen Silviahemmet's (Silvia Home Foundation) 20th anniversary celebration on 17th May about a new concept of accommodation for people affected by dementia, SilviaBo. SilviaBo is a concept for innovation in the future housing construction, an attractive, durable and suitable accommodation that allows for young and elderly people suffering from dementia, as long as possible to stay in their own homes, alone or together with his family and still have a functioning everyday.

Queen Silvia has been seen walking near the Drottningholm Palace, at a place the dementia home is planned to be build, with Wilhelmina Hoffman, the managing director of Silviahemmet.
Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad has met queen Silvia in the work of planning the new apartments.
- The Queen is very involved in the work, said Margareta Thorgren.
Silviahemmet out at Drottningholm offers day care for dementia patients.
Now the queen goes on with SilviaBo - six apartments for dementia patients being built by Skanska and Ikea project BoKlok.
- The Queen is looking forward to develop Silviahemmet and a number of apartments to be built next to the home, says Thorgren.
Already this spring, queen Silvia told about a home for demented people being built with Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, and they met in person in order to plan accommodation.
Last summer, they met again, this time on Öland.
Building of the apartments starts in December. In May next year they will be ready.
- The idea will then be evaluated to see if it is possible to develop. All those who suffer from dementia shall be able to search a home in SilviaBo and manage to stay there financially. The idea is that they should be financially able to stay there and get the best help if you suffer from dementia, says Margareta Thorgren.

Queen Silvia has given an exclusive interview to magazine Äldreomsorg (Elderly care).
Queen Silvia tells about the sadness to see her mother change while suffering from dementia. She also talks about how it sparked an idea to a whole new training to increase knowledge and raise the status of the personnel closest to the elderly.
- At that time there was almost no education about dementia, says Queen Silvia.
This year Silviahemmet celebrates 20 year anniversary, education has grown from enrolled nurses to nurses and doctors. Today this practical training for dementia care is a growing Swedish export product and foreign study groups from all over the world come to see and learn about the business.
- When they were called Silvia Sisters, I was first embarrassed. But I thought that if I can help to raise the status it, is of course right. A kind of quality assurance, the Queen says to freelance journalist Lasse Granestrand in Äldreomsorg.

Wilhelmina Hoffman, the managing director of Silviahemmet, told to Svensk Damtidning some weeks ago that it seems now clear that on 18th May queen Silvia can inaugurate the Silvia-Bo, a new concept of accommodation for people affected by dementia. Silvia-Bo is the Queen's own idea and a new concept where dementia patients should be able to live with their families in a private apartment close to the daily operations of Silviahemmet.
There are two buildings with four apartments of 55 square meters in each, but the plan is that all who suffer from dementia would be able to seek for housing in Silvia-Bo, and in addition manage to stay there economically.

From the website of Silviahemmet, an article of the Silviahemmet's Inspiration Day at Hilton Hotel Slussen on 22nd March.
Queen Silvia delivered Silviahemmet's research and training grant in 2017 to Helle Wiijk and decorated this year seven new Silvia Doctors at a very solemn ceremony. Now there are nineteen doctors who have completed a Master's degree in dementia care at Karolinska Institutet and have the title of Silvia Doctor.

The queen inaugurates SilviaBo - housing for dementia
We welcome you to SilviaBo, Silviahemmets custom housing for people with dementia. HM The Queen is the project initiator and inaugurates SilviaBo, in the presence of HM The King and Mininster Åsa Regnér, on Saturday, May 13th at 15:00.
- Dementia disease often compels couples who have lived a long life together. I hope SilviaBo will give more people the opportunity to continue living together, with maintained security and quality of life, says the Queen.
The investment at SilviaBo is now initiated with a pilot project consisting of six apartments and two viewing apartments in two detached houses, built by BoKlok, located at Drottningholmsmalmen on Ekerö. The ambition is to shortly offer similar housing solutions at a reasonable cost in many places in Sweden, but in the long term also in other countries.
The pilot project has been made possible thanks to a private donation by Ingvar Kamprad.
- SilviaBo is a fantastic initiative of HM The Queen and I am extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to contribute to this project, says Ingvar Kamprad.

After the Forum has ended, the participants are taken to Silviahemmet and they are also visiting the new SilviaBo, housing for people with dementia. In the evening there is a dinner at Fotografiska Museum.

Queen Silvia attended on 30th August at an event where BoKlok handed over SilviaBo's contract at Drottningholmsmalmen to Silviahemmet. Thus, Silviahemmet has gained access to its newly built houses. Silviahemmet got a time capsule reflecting the year 2017 when the SilviaBo project was implemented.
BoKlok started construction of two houses with a total of six residential apartments in the beginning of the year and now Silviahemmet'd pilot plant is completed. These are common homes but are adapted by Silviahemmet for people with dementia and their related. Silviahemmet will rent out the apartments to daycare guests at Silviahemmet's day activities.
