Pia Degermark was a short fling for the then Crown Prince but as far as I've heard Christina was never on of his girlfriends?

Pia Degermark has said that she and Carl Gustaf were never a couple, just good friends who socialized in the same circles and liked to ski and party together.

I remember too. I almost came to tears when one biographer claimed she paid lovers and "friends" tens of thousands of dollars to hang out with her on Skorpios...or even just to CALL HER ON THE PHONE AND CHAT.
Anyway, i do remember that she was briefly linked to CG romantically. I don't believe her father would ever have permitted that. Onassis was hell bent on a fellow Greek Orthodox billionaire shipping scion for Christina.
Carl-Gustaf dodged a real bullet because i think they would have driven one another bonkers.
Poor Christina. One of the saddest and loneliest women ever born.

YouTube gave me this. He was a very cute little kid. He and Christina seem to have been like two peas in a pod.
Was he ever Kronprins or just always Arve/Hereditary?

King Carl Gustav became kronprins in 1950 when his grandfather ascended the throne.

Thank you for fixing the picture.
He was so happy here. It's a shame getting older and dealing with things turned him less confident and cheerful.

It's nice to see that connection between Christina and Carl Gustaf from a very young age. Of course they are closest in age, so while people talk about the Haga princesses, I wouldn't be surprised if Christina was always closer to her younger brother than her older sisters.
Age at CG's birth:
Margaretha: 11 1/2 yrs
Birgitta: 9 1/4 yrs
Désirée: 8 yrs
Christina: 2 3/4 yrs

Developmentally speaking, it would have been much easier for Christina to play with him anyway than with her substantially-older sisters, so...you are getting a lot of cake and flowers shoved in your face, CG.
It's also good that they had each other in their weird and sad childhood (their older sisters were dealing with it from a significantly different angle).
And it's probably not a coincidence that Silvia is about Christina's age — it's obviously how he felt best and safest.
