Many children today came to the Royal Palace to congratulate the King with a flower on the birthday. The beautiful bouquets now adorn the Palace halls.

I think that Alexander and Gabriel should also be seen; if their parents were, why not they?
They are not "worse" than their cousins in anything.

Are you saying that Alexander and Gabriel are inferior to Estelle and Oscar? And are their parents, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, also inferior; So why are the parents seen, and not their children?.

Such lovely photos from the birthday celebrations! Estelle has grown already and I love the little pink bows in her plaits. It seems that it was hot in Sweden that day since she had to take off both her coat and cardigan during the balcony appearance. I just love the photo of Oscar squishing Victoria's cheeks! He seems to have a close bond with his mother, which is lovely to see. I also loved the photo of the little girl handing Carl Gustaf a rose.

The Armed Forces and the public's traditional celebration of the King's birthday at the Royal Palace's outer courtyard has been canceled this year.

At the website of the Armed Forces
Ceremonies and mounted guard parades at the Royal Palace are canceled
The task of the Armed Forces is to guard Stockholm's and Drottningholm's Palaces by Royal Guard. This monitoring task will continue to be implemented. However, the ceremonial portions of the guard will be canceled from April 1 until further notice due to the spread of the coronavirus. This also means that the Armed Forces and the public's traditional celebration of HM King's birthday at the Royal Palace's outer courtyard on April 30 will not be implemented.
Background
Since the public has access to the high-waivers, they are considered a public event. According to government decisions, no public events gathering more than 500 people may be carried out since March 12.

EDIT
On Friday, prime minister Stefan Löfven announced at a press conference the government has reached further restrictions to reduce the spread of infection. Crowds of people exceeding 50 people are no longer allowed. Previously, the limit was 500 people.
Svensk Damtidning called Margareta Thorgren about the King's birthday, Thorgren said:
- It will be in a different way. The King's birthday will be celebrated but not traditionally. So not with the public at Outer Courtyard, possibly at Inner Courtyeard, but we must come back to that, she says.
- We made the decision to change the celebration before the Prime Minister's press conference, she adds.

The court reveals the new ceremony: How the King will be celebrated
The King's birthday at Valborg has been a big question mark. But now the court reveals for Svensk Damtidning that it will be a whole new celebration this year.
- The traditional celebration at Outer Courtyard is cancelled. The King and Queen are still at Stenhammar, says Margareta Thorgren.
But will there be any kind of official congratulation?
- Yes, I can confirm that. A smaller ceremony at the Royal Palace is planned, and it is a ceremony for which the Royal Guards is responsible. However, without the king himself. He and the Queen will remain at Stenhammar.
However, according to what Svensk Damtidning experiences, the king will be able to follow the tributes via video link. And Prince Carl Philip will play a role in this new form of celebration, he is always involved in the Armed Forces' tribute to the King and will step into the uniform this year as well.
But that the king himself will not be able to stand there at Outer Courtyard to receive flowers in front of the long queue with small children is a little extra pity this year. This would have been the 50th time his official celebration took place at the Royal Palace: According to information received from the court, it has been held ever since the end of the 1960s. That is, at least since his 23rd birthday.
The equally traditional private family lunch at the Palace is also cancelled, but the king has the queen by his side, and according to what Svensk Damtidning is informed the grandchildren are preparing a surprise video ...

Congratulations to H.M. The King
On April 30, H.M. The King turns years.
The traditional ceremony at the Royal Palace's Outer Courtyard has been cancelled this year due to the covid-19 pandemic.
This year, the public is also not able to write greetings to the King on the lists that are usually presented at the Palace in connection with the birthday.
Here, however, you have the opportunity to send a congratulatory greeting to the King on the 74th birthday.

Kungen fyller 74 – missar firandet på Stockholms slott

With cheering honor guard from the Life Battalion at the Life Guards as well as musicians from The Royal Swedish Army Band, the Swedish Armed Forces sent today a digital birthday greeting to the King.

Court website:
HM The King's 74th birthday
Today, April 30, the King is 74 years old. The King and Queen celebrate this birthday privately at Stenhammar castle in Södermanland.
The Armed Forces' traditional celebration of the King at the Royal Palace's Outer Courtyard has been suspended this year due to the covid-19 pandemic.
However, the commandant General in Stockholm, Admiral Jan Thörnqvist, sent a digital greeting to the King from the Swedish Armed Forces this morning. From the Royal Palace's Inner Courtyard, an honor guard from Livskadron cheered for the King. Parts of The Royal Swedish Army Band, led by music director Andreas Hanson, also performed The King's Song, followed by Marcia Carolus Rex, which is always played on the King's birthday.
In addition to being a public flag day, the King's birthday is also one of the Armed Forces' salute days.
Salutes of 21 shots are therefore fired at 12.00 from the salute stations at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, Kungshall in Karlskrona, Skansen Lejonet in Gothenburg, Kusthöjden in Härnösand and from a volatile salutation battery at Kvarnängen in Boden.

- This is the Armed Forces' tribute to the King and it is a warming word, says Margareta Thorgren to Svensk Damtidning.
The greeting has been recorded in advance.

H.M. The King's birthday is a national salute day and the Armed Forces therefore earlier today saluted about 21 shots from the salute stations at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, Skansen Lejonet in Gothenburg, Kungshall in Karlskrona, Kusthöjden in Härnösand and from a volatile salutation battery at Kvarnängen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These photographs come from Karlskrona where an "officers salute" is run by officers from the Basskyddskompaniet at @Marinbasen.
In the beginning, salutes were a way for warships to show their peaceful intentions by emptying their cannons on shots before entering a foreign port. Today, salutes are shot at certain royal and national holidays, to greet foreign heads of state and at certain foreign naval visits to Sweden.

King Carl Gustaf's Walpurgis Night greeting from Stenhammar Castle at court Youtube.
The king thanks the Armed Forces for a great birthday greeting. Unfortunately due to the circumstances and the difficult time in Sweden right now there couldn't be held a normal guard change ceremony at the Royal Palace, but this was a fine greeting which the king appreciated very much. The king says: But at the same time we should not forget the people who are really struggling, struggling with themselves and with their life in many places and many hospitals in Sweden, and their relatives, who can't be with them. That is perhaps the most difficult thing. But then there is also the fantastic healthcare personnel, who work tirelessly 24 hours a day, and has done so for quite many weeks. And probably they know that they must do so for many weeks still. They are fantastic people and we must think about what they are doing and facilitate them so that there will not be more people who need the heavy and tiresome healthcare which they are doing. We take care of eachother and don't have too crowded meetings and family meetings. Then I think we can get through this and still have the possibility to celebrate the Walpurgis Night. But think and be careful, and think about your own health and future. And above all: your fellow human beings.

The king "hung" with all seven grandchildren on the computer. And then it became a private birthday dinner with Princess Birgitta.
- It has been a different celebration this year, but we have a great time here at Stenhammar and the king has received many digital congratulations, says Queen Silvia to Svensk Damtidning.
- The whole family has met digitally and congratulated the king.
The queen herself had put together her own little surprise. Entering in front of the castle, the King's favorite gang was marching: the members of Flens VärldsOrkester.
- Yes, the queen always fixes something! She is very inventive, Margareta Thorgren smiled.
However, there was no common video tribute from the family this time.
- No, the children congratulated their father individually and privately, and this also applied to the grandchildren. But there were extra much digital meetings, and extra many warm thoughts this birthday, now that they can't meet.
There was also a happy - and perhaps a little touched - king who in the early evening stepped down the castle stairs in his tweed suit to thank for all the tributes, not least the one from the Armed Forces.
When dusk then settled over Stenhammar, the private birthday supper waited in the king's honor - but on a very small scale: With was only the queen and big sister Birgitta.

The king congratulated himself on his birthday with a luxury car worth SEK 1.7 million. BytBil reports it at its website.
Many congratulated King Carl XVI Gustaf on his 74th birthday.
Not least the king himself, who was delighted with his latest purchase: a new BMW M8 Competition Coupe which he recently received.
It is the car site BytBil that reveals the king's latest car purchase. The site describes the vehicle as "more of a lightning-fast long-distance car than a racing car". The dual turbocharged V8 engine can gas from 0-100 kilometers per hour in just 3.2 seconds, thanks to its 625 horsepower.
It is unclear what color the car has, but the chairs are in red and orange leather. The car has been purchased from Förenade Bil in Malmö for SEK 1.7 million.
Kungens nya lyxgåva avslöjad _ Svensk Dam

Happy birthday, King Carl XVI Gustaf!
BytBil can on the birthday reveal His Majesty's gift to himself:
A brand new BMW M8 Competition with 625 hp was delivered to the king a few weeks ago.
One of the king's greatest passions in life is cars. He is the owner of an impressive car collection including Ferrari, Ford Mustanger and an AC Cobra.
BytBil can today as the first media reveal that the royal car collection received a substantial reinforcement just for Carl XVI Gustaf's 74th birthday. A couple of weeks ago, the King became the owner of BMW's fastest series-produced car ever, a BMW M8 Competition Coupe of the 2020 model year.
The court declines to comment on the car purchase or answer questions about the King's new BMW.
