I understand that there has to be a line drawn between public and private life and such occasions, and really, I respect such a line. I agree. This is a momentous occasion to be celebrated with joy and with the public. He is the King of Sweden and IMO his people (and people from other countires :)) deserve a five minute photo op of just the arrival like you said. I respect the royal family's privacy and don't expect photos of the dinner but a few photos outside of the palace would have been nice. And Madeleine has been pretty absent the past month so it would have been nice to see her with her family again all dressed up.

This is a private party and we are only seeing the guests arrive. The tent where the party was held is in very close proximity to Drottningholm slott so the family did not leave the property and then make an entrance. They are essentially home already.

I know they were home already but I had hoped for a quick five-minute step out from the palace to take some photos. IMO that's not an unreasonable request to ask of a King on his 60th birthday. Also, the whole family would have been dressed up which would have just been great to see! :)

Does anyone know why we saw Princess Lilian arrive? I wonder why she was not already inside the palace. She is part of the royal family. Also, she had no escort. Usually she has one of the royal siblings to hold onto to but tonight she flew solo. She looked lovely though as always. :) It's been awhile since we've seen her in black.

Wow! Thanks so much for the photos, I really enjoyed seeing all of it. Everyone is dressed their best with their best smiles. But my favourite for the evening is Queen Sofia of Spain, she looks so feminine, I love her Valentino couture gown, it makes her look young and radiant :) It's disappointing that we didn't have a glimpse of the Swedish princesses :(

There are no pictures of them tonight unfortunately. King Carl Gustaf wanted this celebration to be private, just the royal family and his honored guests. But we will see them tomorrow, all in their gala wear! :)

All I can say is thank goodness they are both beautiful women!

Mary's hair was stunning & so very, very flattering. I'm not a big fan of her engagement gown however.

I´m dissapointed that we haven´t seen any foto of the Swedish RF, I mean they could atleast had one pic taken of them, and where is the paparazzis when you need them Anyway looking forward to this day and can´t wait for the celebration to begin!
