It is a State Visit, not Official Visit

Oh I just love Dr. Hawass! He's so animated and full of life and also extremely passionate about Egypt's history. What a wonderful person to escort Queen Sofia around.

Forgive my ignorance and if its been asked and answered. What is the difference between and 'official' visit and a 'state' visit.

Yes, I love him too Dr. Hawass is the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities

Los Reyes llegaron a España tras visita de Estado de tres días a Egipto

The Kings came to Spain after visit of State of three days to Egypt

The Kings returned this evening to Spain after a visit of State of three days to Egypt during which they met the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, and Don Juan Carlos presided at the signature) of an Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation to strengthen the bilateral relations between both countries.

The Kings came at 20:20 to the airport of Barajas, three hours later of the initially foreseen, where they were got by the secretary of State of Exteriors, Bernardino León, the mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, and the delegate of the Government in Madrid, Soledad Mestre.

Don Juan Carlos and Dona Sofía came to Madrid proceeding from Alexandria, where they were dismissed by the Alexandrine authorities and by the Spanish ambassador after having visited the Library of Alexandria, an appointment that was not foreseen in the initial program.

I judge from pics that the kings enjoyed in Egypt esp. the queen.she looked happy and relaxed.
 
Judging from the pics posted, I can say that the King and Queen are very happy about the visit. The King seemed to smile a lot while they were in Egypt. The Queen as always is lovely.:)
