Luxembourg State Visit to Brazil: November 26-29, 2007
TRH The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess will be going on a State Visit to Brazil, from November 26 till November 29, 2007.

Finally some lovely pictres of the visit to Brazil, dissapointing there has not been so much coverage of their visit. MT looks nice, i like her dress. Does anyone know more about this project?

Sorry for being late but I was very busy with exams.
So here are some more details of the State Visit to Brazil:
On first day the Grand Ducal couple landed after a five hour lasting flight from Santiago de Chile to Belo Horizonte on the airport together with following delegation: chief of protocol of governor of State Minas Gerais, the Dutch Ambassador in Brazil Onno Hattinga Van't Sant and his wife Johanna Hattinga, Almir Franco de Sa Barbuda, General consul of honor François Moyen, vice president of Arcelor Mittal and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Panuzzi and his wife, as well as Marijke van Drunnenlittel the assistant chief of mission on the Dutch Ambassady in Brazil.
After the visit of Ouro Petro, one of the most interesting destinations in Brazil and world heritage from Unesco, the Grand Ducal couple was greeted in the "Musée de l'Inconfidentia", the former town hall of the city from mayor Angelo Oswaldo de Aurajo Santos. They visited a couple of museums and churches before the governor of the State Minais Gerais, Aécio Neves received the Luxembourgish guests in former palace of governor. After that they visited the room of diamonds.
On 1pm of first day GD Henri and GD Maria Teresa listened a concert from "Experimental Orchestra" in the church Sao Francisco de Assis.
In the afternoon the Grand Ducal couple flew to Sao Paulo where they were greeted on the airport by the consul of honor, the chief of protocol from governor and general consul from the Netherlands. The 18 million city is the biggest city of South America.
On second day Grand Duke Henri visited an Ethanol production company together with Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn and Luxembourg's Minister of Economy Jeannot Krecké. Brazil is the biggest producer of Ethanol in the world together with United States. Out of one hectar of sugar cane they make 7600 liter of Ethanol. The company is located in Santa Elisa Vale, 45 minutes away from Sao Paulo.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa visited an aids/HIV center (Centro Franciscano) where she was informed about the projects Cefran, Cedoc and Viraçao Magazine. A puppets theater and a discussion with the youth concluded this visit.
In the evening there was an offical reception in Hotel Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo.
The third day is traditionally marked by official part of the State Visit in Brazil in opposition to other countries. On the airport of modern capital Brasilia they were received from Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. An escort lead the high guests from Luxembourg in the palace of the president "Planalto". After that there was a conversation between the president and the Grand Duke.
On 1am there was the official lunch in the palace of Foreign ministery "Palais Itamaraty". After the entry in the Golden Book of Senate the Grand Ducal couple had a conversation with chief of Chamber of Deputies Arlindo Chinaglia Junior and the president of Superior Court of Justice.
On last day the Grand Ducal couple went to Vitoria in Brazilian federal state Espritu Santo, where they visited the new factory of giant Steel producer Arcelor Mittal Tubaro with the presence of Chief Executive Officer Lakhsmi Mittal. This factory allows an improvement from 5 to 7,5 million tons of steel per year. Arcelor Mittal is the biggest Steel producer in the world after a fusion of Mittal Steel Company and Arcelor (located in Luxembourg). Indian Lakhsmi Mittal (32 billion dollars) is fifth in Forbes Ranking of richest men in the world.
In the afternoon the GD couple and the delagation flew home after a nine day journey through South America.
