King Harald is takeing part in the Copa del Rey and has given a smal interview with Ultima hora, pictures here
Quote:
Friend and “rival” of the King
Harald of Norway, captain of the “Fram” and in love with the sea, participates every year in the Copa del Rey
The “Fram”, lead by king Harald of Norway, had done a good performance, and in spite of its bad classification in the general of the Transpac category, a subtle smile furrowed the face of the monarch. Good natured and proud, Harald invited to accommodate us to us to make a brief interview to him.
- You Are a regular to the Island. What is that attracts to you to Majorca?
- I like the Copa del Rey. Good boats, good weather, good wind… Without forgetting the good Spanish food.
- I suppose that its friendship with the king Don Juan Carlos also plays an important role in its frequent visits.
- Ofcourse. The members of the Norwegian monarchy maintain a close friendship with all of the Spanish Royal Family.
- Friends, but… also opposing in the regata, is not thus?
- Yes, of some way. Don Juan Carlos is as competitive as any other participant, but he would be excessive to speak of it as a rivalry.
- Imagine it must be especially good for you to be competing again in the Copa del Rey?
- Now I am well. Totally spare part of the heart operation which I was put under. It is more, I feel better than I have for many years. To day, I believe that my state of health is better than before the operation.
- Do you feel young? (I think, they ask)
- No, good, I have not said that exactly, already you know… (laughter). Whenever I feel young, I have to remind myself, I am seventy years old.

When the royal yacht was in Palma some of the the higher ranking crew took the oppertunerty to use the royal yacht to throw a big party, they sent the lower ranking crew below whilst they partied with young girls, some only 18 years old. The royal yacht is considered Norwegian land and it is not allowed to serve liquer to people younger than 20. The King had left Spain when the incident took place but it is rumored some of his crew on the Fram took part. The Captain is not amused and says it is unacceptable, and will look into it immediatly. http://www.seher.no/cm/SeHer/Kongeli...gehus/1.172217
Se og hør has several party pics from the party in their magazine, they look like they are taken be an amteur at the party, and it shows some of the crew partying in their uniforms and a woman having tied one of the hat ribbons around her tigh Also a pic of two young girls in the King and Queens beach chairs on the deck

the king has offered the Norwegian sailing association to loan sailors his boat, when they're training/participating for/in bigger championships. I guess it means that he'll be cutting down on his own participation in such things.

The English version of the article from aftenposten.no can be found here:-
King offers use of his sailboat - Aftenposten.no , but with smaller pictures. If your guess is right norwegianne, it would be a pity, but one should consider his age and the two major operations he did, and what genourosity! I hope that other heads of states would learn to do the same.
