Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko's golden Jubilee
I believe it deserves a thread of its own to celebrate such a golden jubilee

The JT already published an article regarding the Imperial Marriage and the bond it created between the Imperial Family and the postwar people of Japan; and how it modernized the IHA.
You can find it here: Imperial marriage created bond with people | The Japan Times Online

I believe it should be addressed as Golden Wedding Anniversary, Marquesa. It is not that the Emperor has been on the throne for 50 years to be addressed as Golden Jubilee, i think.

An accomplishment for royals and commoners alike, especially these days. I send them my best wishes and hopes for 50 more years of wedded bliss for Their Imperial Majesties.

I am sure that she attended the private family dinner that was scheduled. But, unfortunately, it seems to have been VERY private indeed as I cannot find any photos of it – and not only of Sayako Kuroda but of any family members attending it: I cannot find pics of Prince and Princess Akishino at the wedding anniversary either though they are still “official” personalities. (And, besides, neither pics of their return from the holiday with the solitary emperor. There is a pic of the emperor, alone, to be found here: http://picture.belga.be/belgapicture/picture/13191046.html )
I have only found photos of the CP couple at the anniversary: http://www.royalimages.nl/search.pp?page=1&ShowPicture=9570359&pos=5
&

But this is obviously from a sort of official congratulation, not from the family dinner either.

Here is the video provided by emma 93. You can catch a glimpse of Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko congratulating Emperor and Empress alongside Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako.

Thanks for the video, Al Bina, nice to see them all. Please pardon my ignorance but I wonder why did prince and princess Akishino congratulate Their Majesties while the CP couple still standing there? Protocol maybe?
