So do I. Prince Henrik has quiet a record but I can't imagine he would have on purpose played his wife such a bad trick. I hope it is nothing serious.
Flu would not be surprising at all. Where I live in France - almost a tropical place comparing to Denmark - there were still flues in the air two week ago and colds can still be caught (I have myself a cold for more than a week). Why not in Denmark?

As this thread is evolving to also include PH's flu, I will place this here: Glad Henrik til reception: Prinsgemalen i højt humør og i fin form - Royale | www.bt.dk

PH made a semi public appearance at a reception for two employees who will leave his service.
People present have said that PH was in high spirit and fine form.

Here are two pics from the reception:
http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files...8/8736851-.jpg
http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files...8/8736923-.jpg
Joachim and our Marie were present as well.

- So nothing new today and the question whether it really was a flu still hangs in the air.

------------------------------------------------

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #18, 2015.
Written by Trine Larsen.

PH's close friend, Christian Kjær is speaking out against the, shall we say, public attention and speculations in regards to PH's flu and he is to put it mildly hopping mad! PH was ill, had flu, get it!?!
Flu or not it is to be expected that PH's friends will rally around him, what is perhaps of more interest to us is what Lene Balleby has to say:
"Well... We don't comment on the illnesses of the royals, but I can confirm that the Prince Consort has had some routine examinations at the hospital after returning from Venice".

At Rigshospitalet as well as Bispebjerg Hospital?
LB: "That I can confirm as well. Two days in a row the Prince Consort went to be examined, but again it was routine examinations".
She declined to divulge further details as that is private.

another article on the reception today.
Prinsgemalen er atter på benene | Billed Bladet

Hmm, I dont doubt he was sick at one point. I dont think he would miss his wife's birthday and the center stage with her.
but the timing of the trip, on Friday...when he also canceled an event...that was a little off.

Yeah, the jury is still out.

I sincerely hope it was nothing but a flu and nothing more serious or just as bad another fit...
I don't expect a flu-case to drive from Fredensborg to Amalienborg and back only to stand on a balcony for five minutes and wave. But even a flu case could stand in the window of QMII's bedroom for a couple of minutes.
But everything is more clear in the glare of hindsight.

that is true. A quick poke of the head out the window for the wake up call, even if he had to miss the dinner.

I do hope he is well health wise.

I also share this hope but, if you look carefully at the video of the morning serenade for Queen Margrethe's birthday, you will see a figure to her left hovering close to the window and then backing away. I will bet that this is her husband

If so, why didn't he show if he was up and dressed? Even if he was not dressed, we've seen him and QM already in their pyjamas, no shock here. IMO it was bad judgement from Henrik, but I doubt he cares.

Svensk Damtidning has photos of Victoria, Daniel and Estelle leaving Fredensborg on Friday morning after queen Margrethe's birthday party.
Svensk Damtidning writes that Victoria and Daniel were probably a little tired, but Estelle was full of energy. She was running at the courtyard and luckily Victoria's adjutant was more than happy to play with her. From Fredensborg they went to Amalienborg. And on Saturday at 12.00 Victoria, Daniel and Estelle went to the Copenhagen Cathedral, they attended at a concert of american organist James D. Hicks.

Thanks, does the article say that Swedish family stayed with Mary, Frederik and family at their home Friday and left Saturday?

Yes, thank you, LadyFinn.

The article says that V&D + Estelle went to Amalienborg after leaving Fredensborg. Here they visited M&F before attending a concert in Copenhagen Cathedral. So presumably Estelle stayed behind to play with M&F's children.
Later the whole family flew back to Stockholm.

So I guess the whole SRF slept at Fredensborg after the party.

As I've understood it, they spent the night at Fredensborg after the private birthday dinner (along with the other royals). Then on Friday, they left Fredensborg as some of the last guests and from there, they went to Amalienborg to stay with Mary and Frederik (Svensk Damtidning calls it a playdate between Estelle and the twins). On Saturday, they went to a concert in Copenhagen Cathedral and then travelled home.

Nice that they spent the night, would love to have seen the children together all are active and very sweet and add Princess Isabella would be full of fun.

Excerpt from a Q&A in Billed Bladet #19, 2015.

Where a Peter Nørgaard asks whether there are issues in the marriage of QMII and PH.

Jon Bloch Skipper, the DRF expert, is very pro-monarchy, but he is not afraid of venting his opinion on occasion, even in a very pro-DRF magazine as BB.

Jon Bloch Skipper replies: "No, there are certainly not. I agree the decision of the Prince Consort going to Venice shortly after the celebrations in Copenhagen, which he couldn't attend due to illness, probably wasn't made on the basis of the greatest strategic reflection in the history of Denmark".

He goes on to stating that there is no for thinking anything else that PH fell ill at an unfortunate time. Especially as PH is known to be very fond of parties and good food.

sorry if this has been discussed, but is there any reason that Alexandra, Gustav, and Carina did not attend? I would imagine that Nathalie didn't attend because she just had her daughter, but as Benedikte's children usually attend these events, it's a bit odd to not see them there. It seems odd that the birthday was limited to so few people, but I guess that's the way Margrethe wanted it.

The children of Queen Anne-Marie didn'tn attend either. And of the Rosenborg family only the first cousins got invited, neither the younger generation nor the more distant cousins attended. This shows that the event was planned more low key than previous birthday galas, and that the extended family members were not invited.

interesting. I mean, personally, I would rather my family attend than foreign heads of states. It was, after all, "just" a 75th birthday. I'd expect to see more foreign royals at the Jubilee celebrations than birthdays, but that's just me.

Although, I suppose I can't complain too much as we did get to see Letizia in her "new" tiara.

thank you!

I had really hoped to see all the Queen's nieces and nephews (especially the ladies with their tiaras ). But I understand that the reigning monarchs were invited to the official galla dinner on the first night, which was also attended by the important official people from Denmark.

Some of the monarchs, who are also the Queens friends, stayed for the second night, which had a more private dinner. This could have been an opportunity to invite nieces and nephews, but unfortunately it was decided to go small and exclude them.

As a follow up on PH's absence during the celebrations.

He has told the tabloid BT: "I have among other things had had a minor bronchitis, which unfortunately erupted during the Queen's 75th birthday in April. It lasted for three days at the wrong time, but you are not master over your own health".

Jeg har blandt andet haft en lille bronkitis, som desværre opstod under dronningens 75-års fødselsdag i april. Den varede i tre dage på det forkerte tidspunkt, men man er ikke herre over sit eget helbred,
