I think this interview gives a much more nuanced picture of Henrik's parenting and personality as a father than what's been put out there in the past. My impression is that Henrik has had a reputation as a very harsh, unbending father who was almost Draconian in bringing up his sons. Here, though, Frederik and Joachim describe a strict, but loving man who knew how to have fun in the moment but also took his long term responsibilities toward his children seriously.

Thank you for a job well done Muhler. It made for interesting and entertaining reading. I always thought Queen Margrethe was the stricter parent.

How nice to see that Jacob Jørgensen, father of Martin Jørgensen, still is making documentaries about the royal family. While I usually dislike TV2's royal programmes and prefer DR's, I do have a fondness for his work.

Thank you again, Muhler, for taking the time to translate this for us. It was a very informative and fun article to read!
I especially enjoyed hearing about Henrik's close relationship with his grandchildren. Hopefully he'll have many more healthy years ahead to spend with them.

thank you Muhler! I enjoyed it very much
one of my favorite parts
"Q: Some believe that we’ve never had had our very popular Queen if she hadn’t had her husband. What do you think?F: ”That’s what a good marriage is based on. You can’t embrace it all by yourself. You should very much as a spouse supplement, inspire and build on each other. And be together”.J: ”You can put it like this: There is a Monarch, yes! But there is also a Regent Couple – and the lastbit is ever so important. That’s where the weight should be”."

Thank you so much for translating the interview, Muhler. It's good of you to keep those of us outside of Denmark informed about what's in the print media. One of the things that comes across in the interview is that Frederik and Joachim have a relaxed and close relationship. The Queen and Prince Henrik have every right to be proud of them.

I probably didn't spell that right, but I mean to congratulate you once again on such a fascinating Danish culture and society! No wonder Danes are the happiest people in the world!

You are most kind, Gerry, Polesco & Midwestmom
I agree with you, Gerry, it isn't every day we see Joachim put an arm around a journalist. (The small picture on the rear cover). But then Trine Larsen and her photographer have followed Joachim and his family for years and also gone with him to Africa. I guess you get to know each other well that way.
To me, Polyesco, the thing I noticed the most was Frederik's reaction when Joachim got married. - Now his brother is going away...!
I've been digging for a part of an interview with QMII, I believe it was either from the portrait book in connection with her turning 70 or an interview in connection with her jubilee. It was a very honest account of how she as a naive, perhaps a little immature, young woman was swept away by that dashing Frenchman. - I know I wrote about but I can't find it. I wonder if anyone with a better memory than me (shoudn't be hard!) can help locate it?
ADDED: BT informs us that the entire DRF, with the exception of Benedikte, who is manning the fort back in DK, is now in France.
Tomorrow, Wednesday forenoon the whole family will pose for the photographers. - So lots of family pics coming up.

Yes, here are BT's article about prince Henrik holding a family birthday at Caix tomorrow: Kongefamilien på 80 års fødselsdags-ferie: Danmark regeret af vikar - Royale | www.bt.dk
Frederik has been our Regent from the 5th June and until today. Today, Princess Benedikte takes over, so I interpret it as F&M and children are traveling to Caix today. The Queen has been in France since the 6th June. So I guess the whole family will gather together as the day progresses...
However, the family will only have 1-2 days together... Frederik is already listed as Regent again on the 12th June and both him, Henrik and Mary have official events the coming days back home in Denmark.
*
And yes, a great interview from the two brothers. As others have pointed out - quite frankly and a very relaxed tone. A good way to make a interview with the pictures - it brings a lot of memories to look at pictures.
Despite living at the opposite end of the country and have quite different lives, the two brothers seem to genuine following each other's lives. Frederik even knew that Joachim was going to the hairdresser later in the day
And then, I think it was nice how Frederik repeatedly in the interview included his wife and children. When he talks about his parents' wedding his thoughts related to his own wedding with Mary. Fredenborg where him and Joachim played is now the place where his children plays around. Caix is a nice place to be also because his wife and children love to be there.
Have also enjoyed TV2's program about Prince Henrik. It has shown me a side of Henrik that I didn't know. It's a very great program TV2 have mixed together

I'm a bit surprised that there's no gala dinner for his birthday since he had one for 70 & 75. 80 is a pretty big deal.
Oh well.
