Margrethe Alexandrine Þorhildur Ingrid of Denmark was born on 16 April 1940 at Amalienborg Palace as the daughter of King Frederik IX (d. 1972) and Queen Ingrid, born Princess of Sweden (d. 2000).

She was christened on May 14, 1940 in Holmens Kirke.

Oh,yes Mary and Fred married on May 14th this year.It's so wonderful as the same as Queen Margrethe's Christening Day.

Thanks a bunch for collecting all these pics - I really love seeing pictures of both Margrethe, Benedikte and Anne-Marie as toddlers. I can't help thinking, that I would prefer for Mary and Frederik to have a girl as their first born. We haven't had a newborn Princess in Denmark since 1946...
