State visit from Belgium: October 2004

Lalla Salma, with pink outfit!
If you check the moroccan website, you will see her and her husband with belgium royals, but she did not put her tiara on.

All photos where we see Lalla Salma in social activities are given by foreign press!, is that normal?

All princesses were there for the offical ceremony to welcome King Albert II and queen Paola, except Lalla Meriam, I wonder why?
I heard about the care center of single mothers long time ago, and lalla meriam engagement on this subject as well other female associations, such as "Solidarité féminine" that was founded since 1985 to take care of abandoned children and single mothers.

In fact the centre is a fitness centre for people who have many to spend.
So the centre will be source for the financement of the association and single mothers will work there.

In Morocco ,the princesses never wears tiaras at the gala dinners , but they wear gold belts, necklaces and other jewelery ...that is not in their traditions or customs, the only time the princesses had put tiaras was during their weddings.

take care :)

Did anyone find a picture of the princesses standing up? The blue dress of Princess Salma seemed nice and even Princess Asma's.
Thanks.

Lalla Salma Welcomes Belgian Royals to Morocco

8 OCTOBER 2004- Hellomagazine.com

The flame-haired wife of King Muhammed VI of Morocco seems to be settling right into her royal role, playing the perfect hostess during a visit by Belgium's King Albert and Queen Paola.

Princess Lalla Salma, who wed 40-year-old King Muhammed in 2002, showed both her charm and her stylish dress sense as she accompanied the European sovereigns in Casablanca.

The smile never leaving her face, Lalla Salma was pretty in pink as she greeted the king and queen on Tuesday, setting off her cascading locks with rose-coloured beaded jewellery. And, as she and Queen Paola visited a local centre for single mothers the following day, she once again opted for strawberry hues, in a patterned jacket worn over a simple black dress.

Princess Lalla Salma's high-profile role is just one of many recent changes to her country's royal family and traditions. A commoner and computer engineer, the princess is the first wife of a Moroccan king to be photographed or seen publicly.

The royal couple welcomed their first child, a son, in May 2003. On that occasion, King Muhammed VI once again broke with tradition by releasing informal pictures of himself and his new baby just after the birth.

1. Princess Lalla Salma, wife of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, greets Queen Paola in Casablanca
2. The first high-profile spouse of a Moroccan king, Lalla Salma has had plenty of opportunity to show her charm and grace at official outings
3. The young royal accompanied the Belgian queen on a tour of a local centre for single mothers

Good point rosa.

Normally a first lady takes active role in the society as a regular engagement, not only for special occasions. Hope this is a beginning.

Her appearance in public will change a lot women situation and their role in the society.

About care centre that was inaugurated by P. Salma and Q. Paola, I found it an intelligent idea and a good initiative from Aicha Chenna (the responsible of the association and other people behind it like the King M6 who contributed for the construction, etc).

Because having such centre for that aim, rich people will spend money and this goes directly to people who need it. But if we think about how many single mothers are in Morocco and how many abandoned children are there (not only in Casablanca but in other cities and villages which are hundreds of Km far), is this centre enough?, and are the salaries (few dollars) enough for those women and their children?, of course few dollars are better than nothing, and being active give a hope for a better life.

Therfore, I think the government can do more: social security for citizens, good salaries and rich people pay taxes not tickets in care centres.

I do not think, it is enough to look at the expression of her face
I feel her contracted when she await the queen or when she is addressed to her (look at her hands)

I read on " point de vue " that at the time of the welcome of the king and the queen of the Belgians, Salma had been very discreet and stay recessed and it is mohamed VI which had required of her to join him and the Belgian sovereigns

that confirm what I think on the fact that she is uncomfortable in public,
after all this time I think that perhaps she is very shy or she has not the personality to be first lady

Always on “point de vue”, there is a photo of the dinner to the palace of Fés, better than the one that we knows
Salma wore a very nice caftan of color fushia, she wore an original necklace going up on the neck to several line, unfortunately, on the photo it seems tightened her neck too much and it making some ungracious folds, she also had extravagant earring, voluminous and in the shape of clusters, it is a pity, I think that her earrings spoiled the general effect, because with a necklace also complicate, she should wore earrrigs a lot simpler, and then she would have been original but elegant
Her sisters-in-law were simpler, caftan in nuances of blue for Asma and green for Hasna, they wore, all two «necklace of dog» (collier de chien) and discreet earrings
Queen Paola wore a dress signed Giorgio Armani of night blue colour, sprinkled with small crystals, she also had a necklace and diadem of diamond (I think) and earrings in the shape of shellfish
For me, most majestic was Paola; the most elegant was Asma, when Salma, with all her jewellery she looked like a tree of Christmas
