Regional developments, world transformations testify validity of UAE's defensive military strategy basis: Mohammed Bin Zayed
...Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE pursued "daring plans and ambitious programs to modernize, develop and supply our forces with the latest weapons and equipment, expand the base of national cadres capable of accommodating advanced military technology until our military formations have become an effective force and an indispensable number in the regional and international security, peace and stability equation." Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks in a speech carried by Dira' Al-Watan magazine (Arabic Shield of the Nation) on the 32nd Anniversary of the Unification of the Armed Forces.
"The on-going regional developments and world transformations testify the validity of the criteria on which the UAE defensive military strategy was based. High on top on the agenda of this strategy are self dependency, optimal utilization of available resources, and a clear-cut leading role for the citizen," he stressed....

What lovely pictures of the Sheikh, thank you curious101. Sheikh Mohammed seems to be very active & attends alot of on going exhibitions in Abu Dhabi. I also read somehwere that he attended the last day of as well.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahayan hands a gift to the new humanoid robot REEM-B, unveiled by Pal Technology Robotics, at its launch in Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, June 11, 2008. The 1.47-meter tall robot, which is able to walk dynamically, grasp objects, navigate within buildings, accept voice commands and recognize faces, is one of the most advanced in the world, manufacturers said. Developed by Pal Technology Robotics, REEM-B supercedes the older REEM-A robot, which was launched last year.

Emirati Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahayan (R) is welcomed on October 07, 2008 by Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki upon his arrival at Baghdad international airport. The Sunni-ruled Arab monarchies of the region had been reluctant to upgrade ties with Iraq, not just for security reasons but also because of the Shiite-led government's perceived tilt toward non-Arab Shiite Iran.
