Bad aftertaste: Frankie won the Prince of Wales' stakes but got hit with a 9 day ban because he hit his mount Rewilding 24 (!) times in the final furlong in order to beat favourite So You Think by a neck.

Yes, it's his dast day at the meeting, after that the 10 day ban he picked up at the Epsom Oaks will be in place. Bans are never immediate. The one he picked up yesterday will be in place at a later stage, missing some big meetings as the Eclipse & Irish Derby.
But Frankie's successor is already in place, 19 year old Michael Barzalona who won the Epsom Derby earlier this month. He will step in and eventually become stable jockey when Frankie retires, he is already in his 40ies, quite old for a jockey.

Why shouldn't she hold the umbrella?
Today 14 horses in total for the AlMaktoums that includes 2 horses for Princess Haya and a few for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.

That would be a gentlemen's task... but we are talking about Sheikh Mohammed here for non-emirati eyes, he has been quite rude in public very often, with Haya running behind him etc.
But I have to say, he became more sensible in that respect, behaving more "european" at european events towards his wife in the public eye (the public remains suspicious of the "multiple wives" topic anyway), mainly because she is King Abdullah's sister and has been quite known in Europe for her equestrian "career".
In the early years, the public Maktoum appearances at horse racing events were ridiculous, like a male clown parade in ill-fitting clothes.

Might be a gentlemens task but if he is unwilling to do it and she wants to keep dry from the rain, then might as well do it She also does not seem to have a problem running behind him as you say most of the time, she tends to look very happy and not bothered.

It seems like Hamdan is lonely without a lady is on his arm. I mean to have a woman by his side with her hand in the crook of his arm and him holding her hand. I'm not sure if that would be to much 'PDA'. He seems to me that he would be that kind of gentleman. :)

I think not.
There are a lot of cultural traditions around the world. We should respect them all.
