If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The last State Visit from Sweden was in 1976,shortly after the King married Silvia Sommerlath,a festive occasion. The Godson of Queen Juliana presented his bride to her.I recall marvellous pictures from the Banquet at the Royal Palace,Amsterdam.

the pictures are marvellous, it must have been very exciting for silvia as it was her first state visit! i wonder how she feels coming back to the netherlands after so much time had passed.

woooooooooow ! great news , cant wait to see the glamour princesses , Maxima, Victoria , and Madeleine !
im over the moon to heard such news !!

It is not very likely that princess Madelaine or even crown princess Victoria will attend, the Swedish royal website only mentions the king and queen (as does the Dutch one). Crown Princess Victoria did escort her parents to Belgium though, so who knows...

I would love for Victoria and Madeline or even just Madeline and Carl-Philip to go with the queen and king. Would be an exciting trip :D

To Finland Twice and one time to Icelnad and as you said to Belgium.

This trip promises to be with some major jewelry! I can't wait:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

This really looks like an exausting agenda. I hope they have time to put on some lovely dresses with some rocks to boot!!

I have faith that queen Silvia can pull it off. The first time that we might get a grand gala (with tiaras) at a return banquet in The Netherlands since Beatrix' reign started. Though if the Dutch court will politely ask the Swedish one not to use tiaras the second day as they think it is harmful for their image or whatever, I suppose the Swedes will don't mind that either.

Yesterday afternoon the royal Swedish couple had press-meeting with journalist from Netherlands - do you find article/pics in newspaper/magazine in Netherland?

And in the evening they was attend from Ambassadör H.E. Mr. Jan Edward Craanen in Stockholm!

I don't think so Marengo. You usually adapt to the country you visit. So I don't think tiaras for two nights in a row and I am one of those people who does not mind one bit if there arent any tiaras for both nights ;) (I think gala can be too much when it's overdone)

suprice? what do you know...........
you got me very intrested.

Which articles you mean? With pictures of the press-meeting?

In the gpd newspapers and ofcourse on Royalblog. But that part of the site is out of order, under reconstruction, temporarely as they prepare pages and articles on the State Visit.:)

Newspaper 'Telegraaf also has a report on the press meeting, in Dutch here.

They say that king Carl Gustav said that the late prince Bernhard always called him on his birthday to congratulate him, and he added that Bernhard was a nice man.
The King also discribed queen Beatrix as ' ambitious, extremely ambitious, always busy' - to which queen Silvia diplomatically added that that wasn't meant in a negative way.

Other papers also have articles about the press meeting, though most not on their online editions. They praise the kings openness. The Telegraaf reports that although the king is somewhat shy he gives a lot of interviews each year, which they find admirable. They also add that the king is too modest about his influence. Due to these interviews he has more moral influance than he claims.

-
Newspaper 'Algemeen Dagblad' has an article (in Dutch) here about the Swedish monarchy, and the a-political model they have there. The newspaper points to the advantages of such a system. They also say that it is untrue that the king of Sweden is just a paper doll who cuts ribbons. Due to his ceremonial role he is more free to speak his mind for example.

-
The Reformatorisch Dagblad (unavailable on Sunday) has an interiew with the Swedish ambassador, and they wonder why it took the king 30 years to come to the Netherlands again.

-
Newspaper the Volkskrant also reports about the press meeting, with a special attention to the a-political role of the Swedish king.

-
Etc. etc. I have to say that I can not recall any other recent state visit from a smaller country that received this amount of attention in advance!

Princess Laurentien has activities in the Netherlands on the 21st and the 22nd, so perhaps she will attend a part of the visit. So in the best scenario we will see 8 different Dutch tiaras!

On the occassion of the upcoming state visit, the NOS has put two clips online of the state visit that Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus paid to Sweden in 1987.

Day 1: http://koningshuis.nos.nl/video/bekijk/id/tcm:5-496363/title/staatsbezoek-aan-zweden-dag-1-1987
Day 2: http://koningshuis.nos.nl/video/bekijk/id/tcm:5-496372/title/staatsbezoek-aan-zweden-dag-2-1987 Note the kiss-hand Queen Silvia gives in the end.

And they also have a clip of the state visit by king Gustaf VI Adolf and queen Louise to The Netherlands in 1955: http://koningshuis.nos.nl/video/bek...tle/zweeds-koningspaar-bezoekt-nederland-1955.

The NOS will broadcast a report of the visit on Friday, from 18.50 to 19.20 at nederland 2. That is apart from the regular reports in the news.

NOS Staatsbezoek Zweden - Aflevering - Gids - Nederland 2

-
Another article in de Telegraaf, highlighting that king Carl Gustav intends to reign until he dies: Gustaf, koning tot de dood - Buitenland - Telegraaf.nl [24 uur actueel, ook mobiel] [buitenland].

In the press the state visit has been used to highlight the differences between the Swedish and Dutch monarchy.

-
And the ministery of Defence has a message saying that the honorairy gurds of the Navy will be present at the welcoming ceremony at Noordeinde Palace: http://www.defensie.nl/marine/actue...ij_staatsbezoek_koning_en_koningin_van_Zweden
