State Visit from China to The Netherlands: March 22-23, 2014
 
By invitation of HM King Willem-Alexander HE President Xi Jinping of China and his spouse,Mrs. Peng Liyuan,will pay a State Visit to The Netherlands on saturday march
22nd and sunday march 23rd.
The President will also attend the Nuclear Security Summit at The Hague immediatly after the State Visit .

TM will welcome the President and Mrs.Peng Lyuan at Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport on saturday morning followed by the welcoming ceremony.
Later in the afternoon HM will host an Audience at the Royal Palace,Amsterdam and the day will be concluded with a State Banquet at the same Palace.
On sunday the PM will host the President at the Catshuis,the official Residence of the Dutch PM,followed by a Sino-Dutch Economic Forum at Noordwijk where HM The King will speech.
At noon on sunday TM will escort the President and spouse to Keukenhof Castle for a gathering with both Chinese and Dutch representatives.Mrs.Peng Lyuan will baptise a tulip and TM and the guests will have a private lunch at Keukenhof Castle which will conclude the official part of the State Visit.

i am so very excited about this visit, which is clearly very strategic for the netherlands. surely we will see lots of high profile events, and an obvious opportunity for maxima to delight us with some magnific jewels of her vault. only one day to go!

And next weekend he will make a State Visit to Belgium. Wonder why he waits a week to visit a neighbour Country.

I heard that the Chinese President is in Europe because of the Nuclear Security Summit on 24th - 25th March. He is filling in State Visits before and after. I don't know what the President is doing between the conference and the Belgium vist. But I heard that the State Visits have been planned pretty much last minute. So maybe the Belgium calendar was already too busy for the 26th to 29th.

A pity that not more members of the RF were able to attend the state dinner. But nice that Princess Beatrix could! Also a relief that they are using tiaras ánd the palace in Amsterdam.
Nice to see the king wearing the military williams order. And it seems that Queen Baeatrix decided to leave hers at home.

Also nice that during the day they were allowed to make a picture of the king, queen, president and first lady inside the palace, sitting around a table. However it is a pity that for the groupphoto they still didn't find a setting without those cheap lights visible in the corners.

It is great to see Princess Beatrix appearing alongside her son and daughter-in-law. President Xi and his spouse looked nice. Queen Maxima looked lovely.
I am looking forward to the Belgian state visit and tiaras.

Usually it´s not free to decide whether you wear an order or not once you got one. Normally you would wear your orders when the occasion requires one; but I guess the Princess didn´t wear one of her dutch orders to underline who´s reigning/ in office, and who is not (anymore).
I know that Princess Juliana, after being Queen, attended state visits in the 1980s, too. But I can´t recall if she wore her order??
