maybe on their own request but if it was an accident it would be typical Dutch, an egalitarian society.

I see that no one announced the arriving of the royals. All persons in the palaces were in animated chat and no one raised to greet the royals.

A faux pas for the Household organisation!

Both the Queen's outifit and Maxima's outfit look alike! Well, in the fabric.
I wish I could understand Dutch! I'd LOVE to be able to hear Maxima give her speech.

formality

Since this is something in the spirit of the wonderful (late) prince Claus, a strictly formal event would not be appropriate. It's about substance, not about standing up when royalty arrives. No faux pas at all imho.

WHOOAAA Nice neckline ;) Maxima is soooo JUST DO IT! Simply jumps back into her role after giving birth and a maternity break and goes on with her job, doing speeches and events of all kind. If her hair is messy from time to time, so what? That's just her and I admire her for it.

i agree rachel. such a shame there wasn't a video for the speech she gave in london in english!

it's nice to see maxima back in such a busy schedule again: the other day in london, two events in the netherlands and a photoshoot for alexia's birthday!

Experienced functionaries left the Household

As to previous comments,it is custom to rise when HM and members of the RF make their entree, custom and courtesy towards the Monarch and Her House.

Indeed. I think that when HM was halfway the aisle, the audience suddenly realized her arrival and stumbled up to show respect.

Recently have left the Household Organisation:
- mr. G.H.A. (Gilbert) Monod de Froideville, Master of the Ceremonies to Her Majesty The Queen;
- mrs. E.A.S. (Sophie) Crena de Iongh-den Beer Poortugael, chef de bureau for the Court Marshal to Her Majesty The Queen.
Maybe the new functionaries have not yet 'it' in the fingers.

This 'problem' can easily be solved: a functionary moves forward and says: "Dames en heren: de Koningin!" ("Ladies and gentlemen: the Queen!") and all raise. It simply must have been overlooked because this is very 'un-Beatrix' who is very precize on this sort of things.

Maxima looks wonderful! Is there a video of her speech?

Máxima is perfect in this outfit. Sometimes I don't like the way she dresses (too exuberant) but these last outfits were all gorgeous (imo).
Keep the good work, Maxima!

She looks great, I'm glad to see her back to work.

I agree on the egalitarianism...but come on guys, it was the Queen!! Maybe Máxima and WA still give the impression of a less-formal thing because they're still a) young and b) Princes. But if Beatrix came around, boy I would stand up. Even if she's not MY Queen!

It is usual and is done everywhere that all raise when the Queen or a member of the Royal House enters the room.

This was just an accident: all people were in an animated chat and no one was aware that the Queen and her escorte were coming in. I have seen it on other events: the Queen entering a concert hall and she has stepped forward a few metres when suddenly a silence falls and the first rows all raise, causing a 'wave' until the whole audience has raised. Often it is with an applause as well.

Only at very formal events, a herald shouts "De Koningin!" or you hear a fanfare or the sound of rolling drums.

Thanks for the video! It did seem as everyone wasn't aware of their entrance until the end. She looks wonderful.

What is your opinion of the Princess' English? As a non-native English speaker it is difficult for me to judge on this.

By the way, I really like the wonderful amber-coloured marble ballroom in Noordeinde Palace. With the grand chandeliers, the golden accents and the large green doors it is a grand, representative room but still feels 'warm' and tasteful (no kitsch).

It's good to see her again.

If you can help than do that to your country and to the World.

I am a native English speaker, and though it's hard to judge from a couple of speeches, her english seems very good to me. She has a strong accent, undoubtedly, but her vocabulary seems very big, and she varies the words she uses, she doesn't use the same words over and over again, that might mean the same.

And I agree with you about Noordeinde Palace, beautiful colors.

The royal house was represented by Grand Mastress Martine van Loon-Labouchere at the funeral service and the actual fuineral of Major Boshart (of the Salvation Army). HM also send a wreath with 5 ribbons: Beatrix, Willem-Alexander, Maxima, Margriet and Pieter.

The grand mastress was seated next to the prime minister and was called 'Your Excellence'.

When will this family go on their usual summer vacation in Italy? Will there be a photoshoot for this or should we be content with Alexia's photoshoot?

I thought the last weeks of July and the first weeks of August are the planned holidays for The Queen to stay in Italy.

The mediaeval retreat Rocco dei Dragoni in Tavarnelle val di Pesa actually is owned by the three brothers, Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince Friso and Prince Constantijn. Already since their adolescency, by the way.

The other royal retreat, Il Elefante Felice in Porto Ercole, has been sold.

Has it already been sold? I though it was still on sale, as some in the boulevard press are commenting that Bernhards illegitemate daughters are getting impatient and want their money, which is not possible as some properties still have to be sold.

No it is not sold yet.And as to the daughters, they already had most of their share last year as Alicia has stated and was reported here and on Royalblog, all that remains is the Italian property to be sold and shared.
